Why Trump Deserves to Win the American Election by Olivia Pierson
"My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people, and American security, above all else. That will be the foundation of every decision that I will make. America first will be the major and overriding theme of my administration." Donald J Trump.

When Western Civilisation comes to an end, as it assuredly soon must if it doesn't quickly mount a dramatic rearguard action on its own behalf, its epitaph will be words that have been cited often, but not often enough: "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

If there were any flaws in the performances on Saturday night (April 16, 2016) by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra—with conductor Edo de Waart, violinist Nicola Benedetti and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich—of Beethoven (Eroica Symphony) and Brahms (Double Concerto) then this reviewer couldn't hear them, and it would be churlish to mention them anyway, so sublime was the grandeur attained.

Twelve Aphorisms for Our Age—Variations on a Theme of Edmund Burke
"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
This adage is usually attributed to Edmund Burke, though its origin is disputed. Whoever said it, it is especially apposite in our politically correct age when one is not permitted even to call anything "evil," much less take action against it. Muslims practise and propagate their barbarous superstition, academia and the media their pomo-Marxism, moronnials their aggressive airheadedness, etc., with an impunity lethal to civilisation, because too many of those who know better say nothing. With current events in mind, I have produced twelve variations of my own on Burke's theme.

"We celebrate the life and artistry of the colourful, charismatic Mario Lanza whose portrayal of the Great Caruso inspired the Three Tenors and untold others to pursue singing careers. We are delighted to welcome the broadcaster Lindsay Perigo, a world-renowned authority on Mario Lanza. As we sing his greatest songs, Lindsay will share with us anecdotes and insights into this great artist."

"Monsieur l'abbé, I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write."
It's a hideous historical irony that sizeable pockets of "millennials" are, along with Muslims and the media, the locus of totalitarianism in the modern world. University students in particular, even more than their state-worshipping tutors, are at the forefront of the war on free speech.

Bosch Fawstin, who graced the pages of SOLO during the embryonic stages of his campaign against Islamotrash, was the winner of the Draw Mohammed Competition in Garland, Texas, organised by the beyond-courageous Pamela Geller, where ISIS scum tried to shoot attendees but got themselves shot instead. A most edifying outcome. Pamela and Bosch are now the object of death threats from the scum.

I am greatly saddened by the death of Tibor Machan. Though our friendship became a casualty of the PARC Wars, I retain and cherish superlative memories of the time he spent under my roof, being in New Zealand to deliver a SOLO lecture and talk to student groups and anyone who wanted to listen to him. China et al. Are Not “Killing Us”
The current Republican front-runner, Donald Trump, has repeatedly claimed that China, and many other countries, such as Mexico and Vietnam, are “killing us” in foreign trade. The basis of his claim is the fact that U.S. imports from those countries substantially exceed U.S. exports to those countries.

"The emotion involved in art is not an emotion in the ordinary meaning of the term. It is experienced more as a 'sense' or a 'feel,' but it has two characteristics pertaining to emotions: it is automatically immediate and it has an intense, profoundly personal (yet undefined) value-meaning to the individual experiencing it.
