March 19, 2010 -- Let’s imagine a woman who is getting pressure from some obnoxious sleazeball stud to cheat on her husband and commit adultery. She’s tempted but, if caught, wants some excuse with which to placate her outraged husband so she can avoid a divorce. “Honest, honey, I didn’t consent!” And let’s imagine that the sleazeball wants to protect himself from a rape charge and probable beating by the husband.

I guess it is inevitable - even a sign that the author is taken seriously - that a lot of people continue to throw rocks at Ayn Rand. A book I came across recently is "Ayn Rand Contra Human Nature", published by Greg Nyquist. You can read some of the Amazon reviews of this tome here (http://www.amazon.com/Ayn-Rand...)

Mr Nyquist's blog also continues an almost daily diet of invective against Objectivism, Objectivists, and classical liberalism generally. Indeed the tone of the book is almost guaranteed to rile even the gentlest soul. It reminds me of a certain kind of smart-arse student I used to encounter at my college.

Edward Hudgins, who directs advocacy and is a senior scholar at The Atlas Society, was interviewed on PJTV’s Ask Dr. Helen show. The topic: “A Year of Going Galt: Private Happiness Without Public Penalty?”

I note that Psycho-Prof is one of the speakers at this year's TAS Summer Seminar. He's to hold forth on whether it's Mayhew or Rand answering in Ayn Rand Answers. Although this might be one of the few subjects on which he and I agree, you'd think he'd be over it by now. The tapes of the original undoctored answers are available to all and sundry, after all.

After all, politics always involves some trade-offs and even a little bit of arm-twisting. Like making sausage, it’s not nice to watch but the products can be mighty tasty.

The Atlas Society Marks Its 20th Anniversary!

On February 24, 1990, George Walsh and David Kelley stood before a crowded lecture hall in New York City to announce the birth of the Institute for Objectivist Studies, now named The Atlas Society.

On 6 April (Easter Friday) Lindsay Perigo interviewed James Valliant on his Radio Live show which was broadcast throughout NZ. It is now available online and I commend it to your attention.

On another discussion thread, Lindsay Perigo cited an important quotation from Ayn Rand:
