SOLO-International Op-Ed: Corpseman-in-Chief

Michael Moeller
February 8, 2010

With each new long, drawn out, and substantively empty speech, President Obama's silver tongue has revealed a brain of mush. Most recently, Obama referred to a Navy corpsman as "corpseman", since apparently the teleprompter has not yet incorporated pronunciations phonetically for Dear Leader. Nevertheless, I found the term a wonderfully symbolic moniker for the president himself, and not just applied to his intellectual vacuity, but rather to the entirety of his methods and goals.

"The emotion involved in art is not an emotion in the ordinary meaning of the term. It is experienced more as a 'sense' or a 'feel,' but it has two characteristics pertaining to emotions: it is automatically immediate and it has an intense, profoundly personal (yet undefined) value-meaning to the individual experiencing it.

SOLO-International Op-Ed: A Second Declaration of Independence

Lindsay Perigo
December 26, 2009

When in the course of human affairs it becomes necessary for citizens to break the political chains that hitherto have bound them, and to reclaim the individual sovereignty which is their birthright, it is opportune and appropriate for them to declare the causes which have impelled them to self-liberation. We, the freedom-loving citizens of the United States of America, choose to do so at this historic moment.

KASS Music Gem of the Day: Albizotto (?!)

Lindsay Perigo's picture
Submitted by Lindsay Perigo on Sat, 2010-02-06 23:06

This phenomenon from the noumenon is usually known as the Albinoni Adagio in G minor. Which is fine apart from the fact that Albinoni (1671-1751) didn't write it; Giazotto (1910-1998) did, using, he claimed, an authentic Albinoni fragment. But don't fret about who wrote it. For this one I'd suggest solitude, darkness, headphones ... and high volume!

Freedom vs. Democracy

Kyrel Zantonavitch's picture
Submitted by Kyrel Zantonavitch on Fri, 2010-02-05 02:18

The world today has replaced the medieval, Christian-dominated, Dark Age theory of "the divine right of kings" with the current, socialism-dominated, New Dark Age theory of "the divine right of the majority." This means embracing and sanctifying mob rule. This means democracy is privileged to crush freedom. This means "the will of the people" is allowed to legitimately rip asunder and trample underfoot the rights of the sacred Individual.
