The Sense of Smell

Prima Donna's picture
Submitted by Prima Donna on Sat, 2006-03-11 20:36

This is from my Weekly Meditation, which is part of the podcast we now produce at the Gilded Fork (www.gildedfork.com). I'm presently doing a series on the senses, so this was the first installment. Note that the fabulous music was created by my favorite Pianoman. Smiling

Additional note: Recorded with cold, hence Lauren Bacall-esque thematic. Laughing out loud

Music: New York Cheesecake by Adam Buker

NZB3 Show- The New Zealand Be Free podcast

Last year Julien Pistorius and I put together a pro-capitalism New Zealand podcast. We made 10 fantastic episodes!

One of the most important things I learnt from doing this was how to correctly pronounce Julian's surname. It really makes you think.

Though we're both committed to Objectivism, we didn't make a subject of it in our podcasts. I think though, that if we could get some extra Objectivist manpower, we could make some more podcasts that focused more broadly on philosophy.

Ronald Reagan used to tell the story, though not to Mikhail Gorbachev, of the fellow in the late unlamented Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, who bought a car. He was told by a clerk behind a desk that delivery would be seven years three months and five days away. “Morning or afternoon?” asked the buyer. “Morning or afternoon?” echoed the clerk … what difference does it make when it’s seven years three months and five days away?” “Well,” said the buyer, “it has to be the afternoon. The plumber’s coming in the morning.”

I gather this ancient skirmish is being relitigated on Faecesbook. All I want to be known is that Babs' attempt in 2008 to emasculate and de-KASS Objectivism was addressed by me quite literally over the road at an alternative event:
