Olivia's blogThe powerful beauty of Liszt![]() Submitted by Olivia on Thu, 2006-09-21 23:08
Not long before my mother died (aged only 53), she ordered me a CD of Franz Liszt "The Two Piano Concertos" and "The Piano Sonata" played by Sviatoslav Richter and Kirill Kondrashin with the London Symphony Orchestra (remastered from a 1961 recording). Montessori Education![]() Submitted by Olivia on Thu, 2006-08-24 06:46
I'll start this thread from Kelly's daughter's photo, as neither Adam nor Peter seems willing. Gentleman, feel free to have it out on this one. I would be very interested in hearing different people's experiences of Montessori or pseudo-Montessori schools. I think we can all agree that Maria Montessori had a formidable understanding of a child's mind and educational requirements. I personally have not had a good experience within a Montessori based system, but I can see it largely depends upon the sense of life infused in the teacher/directress as to whether the quality of teaching is valuable or not. Perhaps people would care to comment... A History of Violence![]() Submitted by Olivia on Thu, 2006-06-15 00:45
Has anyone else seen this film? It rocks! It stars Viggo Mortensen and is about an ordinary family man whose past descends upon him with a fury. Viggo truly kicks ass and the violence (self defense) is... well, very satisfying. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It also depicts the couples' sexuality in an interesting way. They start out with a coy, kind of self conscious playfulness which turns into something else entirely once the other side of Viggo's character comes out.
