It all over but the vote counting. I agree with the assessment below. Senator John McCain will be the Republican nominee for US President.

The Hsiekovian Fear of Theocracy Inadvertently Diagnosed by Psychiatrist

Orson's picture

The Hsiekovian fear of Republican-installed theocracy is now - if inadvertently - diagnosed by University of Michigan psychiatrist Pat Santy.

The phenomenon of displacement is at work when people express fear all out of proportion to reality, and direct it at an objectively less powerful or less threatening source.

He was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) – the FT of the US - on a weekend FoxNews cable TV program.

Lonely voices that GET Rand's point: the moocher versus the producer's ethics and world politics!

Orson's picture
Submitted by Orson on Fri, 2007-02-09 07:27.

It's rare to find a voice or authority that gets Any Rand's point, and applies it to today's world. For example, the ethics and politics of the moocher versus the producers - the self-sacraficial Leftist versus the egoistic capitalist. As I've written before, one who does is a Univeristy of Michigan psychiatrist Pat Santy – blogging under the clever title ”DrSanity” – who admires both Thomas Jefferson and Ayn Rand.

Psychiatrist Pat Santy – blogging under the clever title ”DrSanity” – admires both Thomas Jefferson and Ayn Rand. These influences come through in her analysis of the today’s political events and the GWOT, as we see in “ZAWAHIRI, CHEAP GLORY, AND THE TRIUMPH OF NARCISSISM,” excerpted below with slight commentary.

Will “Atlas Shrugged” – the movie – have any great songs?
Which ones or why not? (SHOCK: a satirical finish???) That was my first thought as I read another blog post after the recent story about The Challenge of Distilling Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged” for film.

Is the Hsiehkovian claim about US "theocracy" unfalsifiable? Or how shall we measure...?

Orson's picture
Submitted by Orson on Fri, 2006-12-01 12:47.

Diana Hsieh and likely others, have said that imminence of theocracy is not a part of what Linz has dubbed "the Hsiehkovian’s" argument. But if there is no practical or measurable threat, and Republicans are still ominously “the party of religion,” as Peikoff says, how else is this large claim any different than any other unfalsifiable claim?

A REAL moral dilemma for anti-multi-cult atheists -- Bible oath or Kor'an for oath of office?

Orson's picture
Submitted by Orson on Tue, 2006-11-28 11:39.

The first Muslim elected to the US Congress wants to take his oath of office with a Kor'an instead of the Bible. We all saw President Bill Clinton get impeached, and people wildly trashed the significance of his oath of office.
