Popular Mechanics has an article on the Microsoft Surface - the next generation of computer interfaces.  It's a  multi-touch sensitive display (uses IR cameras to sense objects, gestures and touch; and rear projection for the display part) with a table-like form factor (so multi-user) - no mouse, no keyboard, no wires - that  will be available with a price tag of $10K by the end of the year, and hopefully will get cheap enough to enter our homes by 2010. If you are not technologically inclined, check out the video  (at the article link)  anyway - it is coffee table meets  Minority Report.
