New Zealand Symphony Orchestra with Lars Vogt (piano/conductor), Music by Beethoven, Mozart and Webern, Michael Fowler Centre 26 October

It's always reassuring, in a time of relentless, mindless war against all things dead, European and male, to be able to savour composers and performances such as these. New Zealand Opera's stellar production of Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme a few weeks back was one such occasion. That people flocked in such numbers to revel in such rapturous music was convincing evidence that the forces of barbarism have not yet triumphed.

A little book found its way into my hands the other day, titled Turn the Tide – Reclaiming Religious Freedom in New Zealand. It has been copyrighted by “The Barnabas Fund” and is available for download through the website www.OurReligiousFreedom.org.nz.

The book has a central concern that Christianity is becoming subject to increasing discrimination which the writer calls ‘Christianophobia.'

In this book, Ian Fletcher provides an excellent critique of the pre-Trump "free trade" policies of the United States. His argument is backed up by copious amounts of statistics, real world examples and historical data. Happily, his writing style is accessible to the interested citizen who is not an economics geek living on some Platonic plateau.

President Trump is the hero of our time. I never thought I’d get to see the day when a U.S President stood strongly for everything I believe to be so important to Western civilisation. There are times when I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not just dreaming. Hearing his United Nations Address to the world yesterday is one of those times.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford: An Emotional Cloud of Camouflage

Olivia's picture

By Olivia Pierson
http://www.oliviapierson.org/b...

From her perfected facial expression of a cute little doe caught in the headlights of a car, to her highly affected baby-voice, Dr. Ford’s performance of a sex assault victim on the verge of a spiritual collapse due to an event 36 years ago just does not ring true to me. What she strikes me as, more than anything, is a squid squirting out ink as a camouflage. Her “ink” consists of soft, vulnerable, feminine emotions which plume around her manipulating everybody to go easy on her because she’s delicate and close to breaking. It’s called playing the victim, the operative word being ‘playing.’

The #MeToo’s Attempted Castration of Kavanaugh

Olivia's picture
Submitted by Olivia on Wed, 2018-09-26 00:21

By Olivia Pierson
http://www.oliviapierson.org/b...

Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s hearing to be admitted to the Supreme Court started out as a circus thanks to Democrats trying to shut the whole process down. Now it has become an all out lynching - and why not? Kavanaugh is fair game under the rules of the #MeToo movement, for he’s a straight, male conservative, which means he has a pair of balls and the whole movement of #MeToo exists only to castrate men. ‘Off With Their Balls!’ should be their official tagline.

Why couldn't Juliet have awoken from her drug-induced coma in time to stop Romeo, who thought she was dead, swallowing his own poisonous potion, thus obviating any grisly necessity to dispatch herself with his dagger to join him in death? Did not Shakespeare realise that three hundred years on Tchaikovsky would have melted as many hearts with a happy ending?

Review: Yaram Hazony, The Virtue of Nationalism, 2018

Grant Jones's picture
Submitted by Grant Jones on Tue, 2018-09-18 01:20

Yoram Hazony makes the case that anti-nationalism is objectively anti-Semitism. He is the president of the Jerusalem based Herzl Institute. He makes clear in this book that Zionism is Jewish nationalism, which he completely supports.

He demonstrates much more in this masterful work that needs the widest possible dissemination. The Virtue of Nationalism's thesis is much broader than the nature of the Jewish State. It's an in-depth look at the theory, nature and history of the national state and why it's the best form of political order known to man. The author's conceptual framework begins by making the vital distinction between forms of government and forms of polities:

Since nihilism became mainstream culture via the politics of the Left, that’s when.

"Identitarian" is a pejorative term that wimps on the right use to distinguish themselves from the so-called alt-right, because many on the alt-right understand they were delivered something by their forebears that was extraordinary - and they don't want to see it surrendered to the darkest forces that humanity has to offer.
