Life Imitates Art? Craigslist AdSubmitted by JoeM on Sat, 2006-09-30 05:06.
Wow, Lois Cook lives! I came across this post on the musician's forum at Craigslist, sounds like it was lifted from THE FOUNTAINHEAD. "In life things never do what they should. In rock ’n’ roll things always do what they should. That’s why it’s fascist." Why pretend you're a rock star, or that rock is even relevant anymore? The radio's no fun and Indie Rock has devolved into rigid self parody. Why not smash it down instead of adding on another layer of filth? When being a musician's a desperate cliché, why not try being a nonmusician? This is a call for experimenters and dilettantes, and to people who don't believe in chords, proper tuning or even tonality. I am a young recent college grad, with a fanatical attitude towards sound and music. After trying my hand at several other bands’ projects, I see no future in anything being done today. I am looking for people who feel the same way, and are interested in doing something about it. Let's form a band that isn't stuck in the past, or even the present. Let's be more than just another band. Let's unlearn the rules, the chords, the choruses, and the clichés. Let's be confrontational, and harsh, and meaningful. Let's be different. Let's be art.
