Hélène Grimaud?Submitted by AdamReed on Sat, 2006-10-14 01:02.
I just heard on the radio several excerpts from the work of French-born American pianist Hélène Grimaud. They were wonderful, but too short for definitive judgment. Has anyone heard whole concertos as played by her? Are her CDs worth buying?

Nor mine...
I actually agree with Marnee about Mitsuko Uchida.
Not my choice
Grimaud's recorded repertoire consists mainly of recitals, i.e. discs with pieces by several composers. For me, her record company allows her to be self-indulgent. Her CDs also tend to be full price and do not represent the best value.
If you read the Gramaphone reviews and guides, her recordings are rarely rated amongst the best. Personally, I would look elsewhere. My collection includes Kissin, Perahia, Andsnes, Hough, Brendel, Hamelin, Uchida and Kovacevich.
No!!
Hmm. Not a fan.
When going in for contemporary lady pianists its all about Mitsuko Uchida for me.
YES!!!
Everything of her's I have bought, I have enjoyed with great enthusiasm. Her interpretation and expression and sense of timing for me are almost always right on the mark.
