Solo Florida will be meeting this Saturday. We meet the third Saturday of the month to align with the old SoloHQ day. For now, we are doubling up with Solo RoR, since the size of the original group was very small.  We will be discussing the last couple of chapters of The Romantic Manifesto. Here is the announcement:

- When: Saturday, December 17, 6:00 PM

- Where: Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 780 E Merritt Island Cswy, Merritt Island, FL 32952, (321) 453-8202

- Shared Inquiry Questions for "The Goal of My Writing" and "The Simplest Thing in the World" in The Romantic Manifesto

Interpretive Questions

- What is the goal of Ayn Rand's writing?

- What motivated Ayn Rand to choose this goal?

- Why did Ayn Rand refuse to read the children's equivalent of Naturalistic literature at the age of seven?

- What does Ayn Rand consider to be "the cardinal aspect of art"?

- What is the central theme of "The Simplest Thing in the World"?

Evaluative Questions

- Do you agree with Ayn Rand's evaluation of Naturalism?

- Do you agree with the principle Ayn Rand named as "the cardinal aspect of art"?

- Did you empathize with the central character's plight in "The Simplest Thing in the World"?

- What principles on your Belief Window did this essay and short story undermine or reinforce?

(This last question is a special focus that was added to this series of meetings on The Romantic Manifesto at the beginning. For those who know, no explanation is necessary. For those who don't, none is possible... //;-)

Dinner at Applebee's following the discussion. I hope to see you all there.
