What men can doSubmitted by Rick Giles on Thu, 2007-03-01 23:34.
You will all recall the passage in 'Atlas' where the heroine takes a bit of time to meditate. Do a bit of croshay does she? Read some Mills and Boon perhaps? No? No. What Dangney Taggart does to relax while she's 'a million miles away' doing a bit of soul searching is to make thunder. Using her second-nature mathematical knowledge she ad libs her way around the boulder field in the backyard- rigging up balances and pullies to heave huge stones through the air like vollyballs. That's what this reminds me of... Link: http://j-walkblog.com/index.php?/weblog/posts/moving_big_rocks/ I've always thought that if I were involved in some kind of Ayn Rand convention I'd want one of the activities to be like this. Using the intelligence to move matter. Who wants to sit inside and listen to fusty talk about political economy when you could be outside throwing boulders through the blue sky? The above You Tube is a bit more tame, but no less intelligent. We assume those who made Stone Henge must have used some man mussle powered version of our own mechanical techniques. Genius advances by refusing to accept such assumptions- but this is another post for another day. [Tips to http://www.dianahsieh.com/blog/2007/03/modern-stonehenge.html]

Sort of
Sounds a bit suss to me. But something like that.
Still Waiting For...
Objectivist Burning Man
"The single journey through consciousness should be participated in as fully as possible by the individual no matter how dangerous or cruel or terror-filled that experience may be."
Haha
Depends which music you're a fan of doesn't it?
No, that's Objectivist
No, that's Objectivist Altamont...
Convention concept
I'd kill to see someone pull off such a presentation.
So, from today's observations, we need to
1) Wield boulders of death
2) Create new-music, live- paied for with death
3) Terminate the old-music consumer bracket
That's Objectivist Woodstock, man.
Not quite that organized
Not quite that organized myself...
But if you get something off the ground, here's an idea, anyway: an Objectivist convention with a musical presentation similar to the engineering one suggested by the video; not just a lecture, not just a performance, but an exploration of musical innovation...I'd kill to see someone pull off such a presentation.
Oh yeah
Let's you and me organise one, one of these days.
Nice
Rick, that would be a very cool convention, now you've got me wondering if there's been anything comparable to that.
Very cool vid, btw.
