Show of Support for Global Warming SkepticSubmitted by JoeM on Thu, 2007-04-19 04:06.
There is a local (Philadelphia) weather anchor on Fox local news that has come out on his Fox blogpage as a global warming skeptic. , and the local weekly newspaper/commie rag has come out against him. Because this is a whiny liberal city, I'm soliciting SOLO members to show their support by sending a note to David.Aldrich@FOXTV.COM. Thanks.

Never made it...
...in fact, I had to look it up
Palak Panir recipe
Make sure you actually get black cumin and not nigella. I've been sold one for the other and they are *not* the same.
But, man, do I have a super recipe that I tried for the first time last night:
Per person:
2 cups cauliflower florets--not too large, cut off any thick stems
1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp cumin seeds--*not* ground or powdered
1 cup hot chicken stock--I just used an Oxo stock cube
4 tablespoons--thick, Greek, if you have it--plain yoghurt
Light oil, canola
Large frypan, med-high heat, oil, chuck in the cauli
Saute cauli--loud sizzle
Add garlic and cumin seeds, stirring well
When cauli has been lightly browned all over--about 5 mins--add hot stock and reduce by half
Turn heat to very low and put on lid
Let cauli steam for 5 mins
Remove from heat and add yoghurt, stirring in to make a sauce
The piquant, silky yoghurt sauce with the texture--and nutty browned flavor--of the cauli + the background depth of stock, garlic & cumin is killer. I had mine with beef curry and it was sensational. In fact, if you browned some sliced chicken breast and added that into the cauli at the end, man, what a one bowl dish that would be

Ross,
On the topic of peppers, I don't suppose you know of a good palak panir recipe do you? I tried one from a Hare Krisnha cookbook (I know, I know ...) & it was weak & insipid.
I've resolved to cook for myself at least three times a week - tonight though will not be one of those days. I'll be lucky to be home by 9PM, after first my day job then a meeting with a client ...

This past NZ summer...
...was lamentable. And autumn has been a little pissy save three weeks in March when my chiles managed to revive and achieve some respectability.
If anyone proclaiming anthropogenic global warming comes within shotgun distance of my place, I swear, I'll beat them to death with a jalapeno plant.

No sweat, Kenny (pun intended). But we're getting ours this weekend, finally. Actually, Philly usually goes straight from winter to summer, so it'll probably be 95 in a week or two...I miss Seattle.

Sorry Joe
I had noticed that the weather has been unseasonably cold in the US. April in London last year was lousy too.
Please forgive me for enjoying it our great weather - 22 degrees this weekend - more sunbathing and drinking champagne by our marina!

Not a global warming sceptic
I'm an enthusiast! Global warming is great and, according to a suppressed UK government report, will benefit the British economy. We are having a wonderful April in London!
