SOLO Pilot Podcast #2: The Prince
Today on the show we re-release another of SOLO founder and principal, Lindsay Perigo's, old Politically Correct Show editorials. This time it's Winston Peters--New Zealand's consummate politician. By "politician" I'm referring to the worst sense of the word, I do not mean statesman nor leader. A better term might be 'political staff' but the distinction between 'politician' and 'politician' will become crystal clear with particular attention to New Zealand's Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Peters, when we get to Lindsay's segment. Firstly, however, I'm joined by Duncan Bayne who has lately been reading of a philosopher who ties in nicely with Winston's work--Nicholi Machiavelli. But before we do, I'm going to take us back to Renaissance Florence... Podcast Download: SOLO Pilot Podcast #2: The Prince

After the conversion
Yes, PC's archives and audio factory will be passing on that interview any day now.
Peters may have risen to the top and become NZ's first true demagogue, even more dangerous than his former master, the apostate, Muldoon.
Maybe we'd be better off if The State had only one neck to strangle. We now have two Labour parties and are sorely in need of New Zealand's two libertarian parties. Also, therefore, we are sorely in need of the culture that only Objectivism puts closest within reach.
A show must come soon to address what role SOLO proposes to play in this.
And you, Sandi, might like to be a part of it since you've been saying to me for weeks you're keen to be involved! Any time's a good time- especially if you're planning a family soon.
Hey Ross
A solo project in the bedroom might splutter out in a minute or two, but with some real team work, it can develop into a nine month project with the extended phase lasting a lifetime!
I too, enjoyed the podcast. Great work. I have to say that I am looking forward to hear Lindsay's (conversion) interview.
who was it that said
Kiwis no longer have a sense of humor? You lot are more than making up for that vacuum to be sure!
All joking aside, I like the way you have arranged the podcasts, and the technical and stylistic stuff will sort it self out within the next few podcasts, wherever they happen to be recorded (or projected).
Good idea, Dunc
I've always maintained that if you can't project in the bedroom, you can't project anywhere.
Lindsay, thanks for the
Lindsay, thanks for the feedback. I think the audio quality on my segment is due to me recording it in my home office, which is almost entirely devoid of furniture, and has an incredible amount of echo.
I'll try recording in the bedroom next time, and see if I can project a bit more too.

Good boys!
Getting there, getting there! Nice touch with the historic bakground to NM - I liked the pointing up of the honesty of the man in the street vs. the cynical dishonesty of the politicians. And of course, the synergy with Winston was perfect. Well conceived and executed, Rick and Dunc!
Really the main thing yet to be nailed is the sound quality. Though overall it's better than last time, there are still obvious shortcomings. Dunc sounded as though he was in a drum, and the levels of the segments are wildly inconsistent. It surprises me that the studio tech didn't sort that.
This one benefited also from being shorter.
Presentation tip from the NZBC Broadcasting School where I was drilled at the beginning of my career—project at a level that you think is slightly overdone. It will be heard as normal. If you speak "normally" you'll sound flat. Be a bit larger than life.
Thanks Rick, and keep going. Very worthwhile.

Peters
It's a good thing that Peters' vanity caused him to depart from and rail against his former party for it's entirely likely that at some stage in the long leadership vacuum that preceded Don Brash, Peters may have risen to the top and become NZ's first true demagogue, even more dangerous than his former master, the apostate, Muldoon.
Peters' can only be considered likeable if one admires the slick political chicanery that cynical operators such as Bill Clinton practise. As such, he'll play the same old game at the 2008 election: pretending to be above the political machine while all the time salivating at the thought of playing the role of kingmaker.
