'Atlas Shrieked'Submitted by Stuart Hayashi on Tue, 2007-07-31 19:44.
A friend of mine who's a student of Objectivism sent me a link to a parody newspaper article about the play "Atlas Shrieked." Read it here. Hmmm, I think Ellsworth Toohey would be quite a fan of this show. In fact, what's scary is that it actually sounds like a real article, especially since a performance artist would conceivably do something like this. Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn't even be telling people about this -- if a government-funded performance artist reads this, it could inspire him... However, there is something about this piece that I appreciate: It is astonishingly rare -- and, consequently, refreshing -- that somebody could joke about Atlas Shrugged without expressing venomous ill will toward the book itself or its author. And this joke -- written on a website for amateurs -- was actually funnier than the sophomoric digs against Ayn Rand made on the much-more-expensively-produced Colbert Report. What does that say about today's professional(?) comedy writers?
