I
am on fire too!
So much so I have taken to answering the telephone by saying "Hello Elijah speaking - the future belongs to me!"
I am so positive about the future and our ability to effect change I can almost taste it!
Ahmmm...
Billy... this blog is the Sense of Life one... did you take a wrong turn?
That's Exactly Right: It's "Sad"
Get back to me when you've gone through this bloody rotten circus for more than three decades of only life you're ever going to have.
Believe me, kiddo: I would far rather you didn't have to, but at the rate things are going, you're going to have it a lot worse than I have.
Welcome aboard, Miss Treadgold!
Glad to hear from another Aucklander with her hair on fire! Can't wait to see it!
It's sad that we have to
It's sad that we have to feel so negatively towards everyone and to go through life feeling pessimistic about the world.
Such a waste.
I'm on fire.
Over It
I was on fire for more than thirty years. I ruined my career behind it.
I'm just resigned, now. I live in a culture of fucking morons who think they're going to vote their way out of this, and I know that it's just not going to work out in my only-ever lifetime.
"There's a feelin' in the sky tonight
Tough as nails and I feel the cold wind start to bite
Folks I meet seem so cold
Blown like leaves their faces hard and set in stone
I'd just like to know
Cold and tired, hope all gone
Just how far this road goes on
I'd just like to see
All or nothin', high or low
Just how far this game can go
Plant my feet on foreign soil
No return I crossed that line some time ago
Cast my eyes on streets that shine
Reflect my image and I know I'm livin' on borrowed time
I'd sure like to feel
Dreams I chased so long ago
Weren't wasted miles on empty roads
I'd just like to believe
All these desperate cries I hear
Are falling on a sympathetic ear"
(Little Feat, "Changin' Luck", 1988)
It's too goddamned bad, which is why I chose this for an epitaph:
"I never liked any of you sonsofbitches, but I always wished I could have."
Onward. Through the Endarkenment.
