SOLO-NZ PR: Islam Awareness Week (2)Submitted by Jameson on Wed, 2007-08-15 03:50.
SOLO-NZ Press Release: Islam Awareness Week - The Silent Moderate Muslim Majority The government-sponsored Islam Awareness Week launched yesterday with Ethnic Affairs Minister Chris Carter saying he was "welcoming moves by the local Muslim community to demystify their religion and customs." "Splendid, because there's something I'd like demystified: why haven't we heard a peep from the 36,000 New Zealand Muslims about the jihadists who are terrorising the world in their name?" asks SOLO New Zealand Coordinator Glenn Jameson. "Notably, the words 'terrorist', 'jihad' and 'war' were absent in both the government's and FIANZ's press releases, and on the IAW website. If Islam truly is a religion of peace, surely this would be an opportune time to hear their umbrage manifest in a deafening condemnation of Islamic terrorism – if for nothing else, to make a distinction between themselves and their fundamentalist brethren," Jameson continues. "Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words ring as true today as they did 40 years ago, "History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period... was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people." "As devout Muslim Mahmoud Ahmadinejad moves inexorably toward arming himself with WMDs, I'd like to point to an MWD (mass weapon of destruction) that could wipe out the Islamic jihadists overnight: the roar of one billion Muslims crying, "Stop!" But it appears instead we can look forward to a week of Muslims celebrating "Unity in Diversity" and avoiding the ticking elephant in the room," Jameson concludes. Dear Robert
Where did I mention your name? I didn't. Are you always this reactionary?
Ah, Robert...
apology accepted again -- I always took you for a reasonable man, and even at the time (as I remember) I was sure it was an anomalous remark. I would have commented on the others too, but I didn't have time at the time, and besides, Ayaan was a far prettier poster child for the cause.
For the record...
The first time we crossed swords on this I listed 3-4 instances of Muslims publically decrying the Islamofascists. Peter Cresswell highlights some more good folk here.
I noted that when you replied, you choose to recognise only Ayaan Hirsi and the fact that she'd denounced Islam in totality (and good for her!). Your highlighting her actions at the expense of the others when when added to other comments you made later, led me to rush to a misjudgement of your motives.
I was wrong & I apologise -- once again.
Coolies
Good work GJ.
I know from working for her (indirectly) that Tariana Turia is one who listens to everything said in the media about her and her interests. But, it's great to have some attention!
Turia's response was meant for you I would say. Would you like to respond?
What would you like to say?
By all means, say something substantive.
Some might think she has a perfectly good point, but I couldn't possibly comment.
Dear Richard,
Get Fucked.
It does matter to me when I mischaracterise someone which is why I apologised to Glenn at the time - and meant it.
So take your snide comment and shove it up your arse.
Never mattered
"For the record, I don't think I ever said "NO moderate Muslim has opposed the (Islamo)fascists...";
Yes, but that has never mattered to those intent on mischaracterising you. I guess it's a case of seeing what one wants to see.
Tariana Urea's response
Is there more to it - or was that all she wrote?
G
Indeed, critical rather than a critic.
Thanks for the link, Robert, certainly an encouraging development - perhaps even the start of a global tipping point. The pop video "Yeh Hum Nahee" ("This is Not Us") is worth a watch... [click to play]
There it is, loud and clear - "We're not like the terrorists". The song fails to say why they're not like the terrorists, but nevertheless I admire these pop idols for standing up and risking their necks in defiance of the jihad. That's another group of Muslims off my 'fatwa', who are welcome in my home anytime...
For the record, I don't think I ever said "NO moderate Muslim has opposed the (Islamo)fascists..."; my thrust has been: those who do are demonstrating their benign nature, and those who don't deserve our suspicion, and that if one billion or so good Muslims redefined Islam as truly a religion of western-style peace they would in effect cut the red wire on the ticking time bomb.
Again, thanks...
Is this just PR or am I being cynical
'Yeh Hum Naheen' Lyrics
Hamarey Naam Say Phali Howi Jhoti Kahani Ha
This story that is being spread in our names is a lie
Yeah Mohrein Mouat Ki….. Mathay Pay Gharoun Ki Nishani Hey
These stamps of death on our forehead are the signs of others
Hamein Jis Naam Say Tum Jantay Ho….Woh Hum Nahien
The name by which you know us - we are not that
Humein Jis Ankh Say Tum Dehktay Ho….Woh Hum Nahien
The eyes with which you look at us - we are not that
Yeah Hum Nahi, Yeah Hum Nahi, Yeah Hum Nahi, Yeah Hum Nahi,
This is not us - this is not us...
Jaisay Sham Atay hi Koi Rasta Bola Bathay
As with the coming of night one loses one's way
Andhairo Say Daaray Itna Kay Hum Ghar Hi Jala Bathay
We are scared of the dark so much that we are burning our own home
Yeah Kya Charo Taraf Urti Howi Ryigani Hey
What is this rising all around us...
Hamarey Naam Say Phali Howi Jhoti Kahani Hey
The stories that are being spread in our names are lies
Yeah Hum Nahi. Yeah Hum Nahi, Yeah Hum Nahi. Yeah Hum Nahi,
This is not us...
Gira Bathay Ha Rastay Mein Sabak Hum Sath Rahnay Ka
We have lost on the way the lesson of living togeather
Humay Ek Dosray Say Isliya Bhi Lag Raha Ha Daar
we are now even scared of each other.
Who Koi Aur Hain Jin Kay Taray Hataoo May Chehray Hain
They are others whose faces are on your hands
Tumhara Duokh Sumandar Hey….Hamaray Zakham Ghairay Hey
Your hurts are a deep sea - our wounds are deep.
Hamarey Naam Say Phali Howi Jhoti Kahani Hey
The stories that are being spread in our names are lies
Yeah Hum Nahi. Yeah Hum Nahi, Yeah Hum Nahi. Yeah Hum Nahi,
This is not us
Critic?
Or critical?
I've never had a beef with calling for Muslims to stand up and declare that the beheadings, rapings, eternal jihad, etc. ad nauseum should stop. I've never had a beef with pointing out the anti-human, anti-reality stupidity of religion in general and Islam in particular (and here I must congratulate Linz on his KASS editorials & Salient articles).
What got stuck in my craw was the blank declaration that NO moderate Muslim has opposed the fascists and the extrapolation of the results of straw polls taken well beyond their context. As I pointed out, some Muslims are raising their voices (and arms) against the filth. True, It's barely a whisper at the moment, and isn't all that strong in it's condemnation (e.g. this Hit pop song). But it is there, and I could never see what was to be gained by ignoring it.
You message states that we need more Muslims to stand up and stop this madness. I utterly agree!
Again, well done!
Oh, go ahead!
Heck, don't hold back on my account.
I'll probably just mention it en passant anyway. Knock the bitch out, Glenn!
Cheers, Robert...
Means a lot coming from one of my (former) critics!
Yes, I want to reply...
What angle are you going to take, Lindsay?
Excellent!
Pithy, concise, and spot on target. And as a bonus it pisses off one of NZ's Racist Party members.
Brilliant!
I might ...
.... just have something to say in my editorial tomorrow. Heh, heh, heh!
Glenn
Turia's response was meant for you I would say. Would you like to respond?
What would you like to say?
Whakanamazing!
That's a pretty rich comment coming from a member of a people who have been demanding whities pay for “their” war over and over and over and over again!!
Seems only the indigenous (and those who have the same coloured skin as the indigenous) have rights in this country!
Thanks for your encouragement, fellas…
[PS did you respond?]
To the SOLO Media Centre
Which is Mitch. Well done Jameson! Carry on Jameson!
To your release...
she sent the reply to me.
Good to know they are reading them
Mitch...
Responding to what... and where?
Response from Tariana Turia:
"Do you account for your peoples wars or is this normal. You have no right to demand anything of anyone."
For those who don't know, Tariana Turia is the co-leader of the New Zealand Racist (Maori) Party.
