Greetings Comrades!

After the uproar following last month’s awards, I have decided to tone it down a bit. Hahahahahahaha.

They’re up first this month.

SOLO Awards:

KASS SOLOist of the Month Award (awarded by Linz)—Lance Davey. A newcomer with a decade of breeding and conforming to make up for, posting like there's no tomorrow.

SOLO Miracle—Phil Coates, or lack thereof. Smiling

Objectibabe of the Month—Ashley Frazier, for creative suggestions involving peanut butter.

Perseverance in the Face of Overwhelming Indifference—Lindsay Perigo, for his daily radio editorials.

The “Let Them Eat Cake” Award—Elijah Lineberry.

The “Too Much Information” Award— Hilton Holder, for flatulence description.

Highly Commended—Kasper Kulak, for embarking on a kamikaze mission at university and living to tell the tale. Good on ya mate.

Anyway, moving on.

August saw the running of the NZ Government sponsored Islam Awareness Week. After hearing about it at the last minute, SOLO decided to participate. Tariana Turia from the Racist Party didn’t seem to care much for our participation. See here. The honky hatred is palpable!

Apart from Islam Awareness Week, which was SOLO’s first targeted campaign (as far as I’m aware), we issued 6 Press Releases during August. This number is down on July, which was not exactly part of the plan. To ensure this does not happen again the whip has been cracked and SOLO staff have been issued with PR targets.

I will again encourage everyone else to submit a Press Release or Letter to the Editor. If you get a bee in your bonnet about anything, have a think about putting it into ‘releasable’ form instead of just blogging it. The more we bombard the politicians, media and general public, the harder it becomes to ignore us!

In other news, William Green continues to work tirelessly on ironing out the kinks that have resulted from the recent drupal upgrade. The chatroom/winebar is still a work in progress, and the intention is to have it up and running by the end of September at the latest.

While we work on moving Mohammad to the mountain with Press Releases and the like, it would be nice to have the mountain move a little closer to Mohammad. So, I hereby announce:

SOLO’s September Comrade Collection!

As the name suggests, during the month of September SOLO will be having a membership drive. YOU are involved:

- Any SOLOist who enlists another new member will be handsomely rewarded.

- New member MUST write at least a blog post to introduce themselves, and name you as the person who referred them.

- Prizes include an autographed copy of Lindsay Perigo’s biography, Perigo! Politically Incorrect, and – if you recruit three or more members – an online subscription to the world’s best magazine, The Free Radical.

Excited!? You’d better be!

I end on a sad note - we've just learned of the death in May of Fred Seddon's son, Beethoven. Sincere condolences, Fred, on your loss.

That’s it from me for now. If there is anything that I’ve missed or if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Mitch Lees, Commissar of KASS.

I'm real enough

Robert Williscroft's picture

I just haven’t been back here since joining. A lot is going on in my life. I’ll hang out from time to time to see if staying is worthwhile. In the meantime, can I interest any of you in my book: The Chicken Little Agenda – Debunking “Experts’” Lies

At the South Pole

Enlistment prize

I see that a rather fascinating person, Robert Williscroft, has joined SOLOpassion. If he's for real (not spam), clearly someone deserves a prize for enlisting him; and I look forward to reading Mr. Williscroft's contributions.

Well shucks This has been

Well shucks Laughing out loud
This has been somewhat of a renaissance for me. When I was in school I would constantly butt heads with my teachers over what I thought of as being 'stupid' or 'just wrong'. One example from high school English was when we were studying some piece of absurd literature. The teacher wanted to know what we thought a particular passage 'meant'. I argued that it either meant nothing at all and was pure gibberish, or that is was so far disconnected from what the author meant in plain English that, short of asking him, there was no way we could possibly know and it didn't warrant thinking about. She then asked "Yes but, what do you take away from it?". I don't recall my exact reply, but I did receive detention for using the term 'headwank'.
The desire to rail against 'stupidity' and 'wrongness' had waned over time though, and I had resigned myself to muttering sullen internal monologues to myself with a sour look on my face anytime I encountered them.
Not so anymore.
If there's one thing I have learnt it's that for anything to change, good people must loudly and consistently identify evil whenever it is found and that they must know why it is evil.

If you've been reading NZ headlines...
