Four more years! ...Four more years!

I thought I would title this forum by using the US Republican slogan from 1972 and '84.

It is two years to the day since the last NZ General Election and I am prepared to make a prediction about the next one...namely, that Helen Clark will be re-elected and serve until 2011.

The latest opinion poll puts Labour on 39% which is the same level of support they received when first elected, and within the margin of error of their support at the last two elections.
This is a remarkable achievement for a Government which looks very stale and tired, and shows there is no underlying swing against the Government from those who have supported them.

If you take into account the National percentage in the poll of 49% is more wishful thinking than reality, it would seem John Key has failed in his attempt to hoodwink the public with no policies and not standing for anything in particular.

Tax cuts, spending cuts, abolishing regulations, 'freedom' ...all the things the National party could have policies about...and...nothing.

They are going to lose, they deserve to lose...and as I said the other day, can 'repent at leisure' at their cowardly, pathetic behaviour.

The other thing in favour of Helen Clark would be that fat Indian Governor General...you can bet he has been 'primed' to ensure he invites Labour to continue after the election.

Humor!

Eli enjoys making insults and teasing people he deems to be pathetic. I find it quite funny actually and I don't think it is his attempt at making a point in the absence of an argument holding substance. It is merely his writing and personality style. The superiority complexes, "that chap", non PC remarks and others are just part of his laugh and sense of bewilderment at the extraordinary moronry that goes on in Politically correct New Zealand and socialist mindsets.

There isn't much relevance I agree. (And to suggest corruption from an Old Boy of my college too!) But no doubt he'd be tempted to toe the Labour line with this prestigious post having gone his way.

Philip, please take into

Philip, please take into account the original post on this thread was written many months ago...

But, it would not surprise me if the Governor General will require National to win 61 seats before Key is invited to form a Government.

Were National to win, say, 56 seats, I think the Governor General would say "oh, as you do not have a majority in Parliament, there is no need for Helen to resign so she should just carry on until defeated in parliament"

If you can introduce the Electoral Finance Act ...and other legislation... these people are sooooooooo ruthless I would not put it past them cooking up a scenario such as this.

OK to insult Catholics though Luke

gregster's picture

Your accomplice Goode seems to think so. I don't mind too.

You see where you haven't left behind the evil political correctness of your education? Exclusive Brethren, Catholics can be targeted with insults but not the "hot now topics" as espoused by your lecturers.

The relevance still escapes me.

My main question was what do you mean by the above? How exactly will the G.G ensure a labour victory? If you have some sort of evidence of impending electoral corruption then I'm interested- as nothing ever happens in N.Z. this could be the story of the century!

So Elijah shouldn't use the word "deformed"??  Or does this apply to all posters on SOLO?

Please advise us what the acceptable alternative terminology is - "physically challenged" perhaps? :)

I think we are all adults and can make up our own mind about Mr Lineberry.  Quite frankly we don't need you to help us.

Ha ha..gosh...I am

Elijah's picture

Ha ha..gosh...I am surprised an off the cuff comment made 9 months ago is attracting such attention!

This is a case of all the Urban Liberal PC Girlie Men together Shocked ...everyone wanting to piss in the pocket of some socialist halfwit like Farrar...how pathetic.

Outside the beltway....in the real World...people do not feel a desire to engage in totalitarianism and thought police....they are happy enough to make fun of people, tell Irish jokes, or whatever without getting their knickers in a twist.

(Some of you people really need to leave Wellington for a while and obtain some life experiences)

On the subject of the Governor General...yes...I dislike the chap...feel he has debased the office with his gauche behaviour, lack of a Knighthood and (as I have said before) when viewed alongside previous Governors General ...such as Holyoake, Blundell and the chap who got the Bronze medal in the film "Chariots of Fire" the current GG is pathetic....(would not surprise me if he had barely enough money to afford the petrol to drive to his swearing in ceremony)

Didn't mention

gregster's picture

his deformation because I'm not aware of any, maybe Elijah is?
I've not seen why he could be deformed.

Gregster

Luke H's picture

You are just ignoring Elijah's intentions here.  And the label "fat" comes under the category "insulting", not "racist".

Do you think calling Farrar "deformed" is simply calling a spade a spade?

Yes, and I doubt

gregster's picture

it's racist to call someone fat, neither to call them black, if that is the case. You can't mangle the English language in this way. He is a fat Indian planted by Labour.

Context-dropping

Luke H's picture

It is obvious that Elijah is using these descriptions in an insulting, racist fashion.  Is it PC to call him on that?

PC alert

gregster's picture

"We have now become so non-judgemental that speaking the truth and calling a spade a spade, all too often leads to complaints to the Human Rights Commission - not to mention the Press Council, the Advertising Standards Authority, and all of the other organisations that sit in judgement on such matters.

The danger is that human rights laws, which were originally introduced under the guise of protecting individuals from discrimination, impinge on the most basic human right of all - individual freedom. Under the Labour government, human rights arguments have been used to impose the political agendas of favoured minority groups onto the public at large to the extent that, for example, Maori cultural beliefs now dominate the New Zealand education curriculum and sexual orientation has ceased to be a private matter but - with a question on sexual orientation being planned for the census - one in which the state has a particular interest."

Especially you Wellington boys. Is he fat? Is he Indian? Yes and yes.

And the "fat" epithet, along with his description of Farrar as "deformed", is an ad hominem attack.

Elijah uses these when he cannot think of a real argument; he likes to attack people on a personal level, disparaging their race, class and physical characteristics, or their ideological credentials.

Philip

Richard Goode's picture

And why is being a 'fat Indian' relevant?

Elijah is a racist. That's why he mentions the fact that Anand Satyanand is Indian, as if it were relevant. It's not, of course.

What do you mean?

Don't think so

gregster's picture

You haven't allowed for the liberal bias of most polling carried out for the MSM. Labour's 39% is likely lower or the margin, in reality, wider.

Farrar

Luke H's picture

"I had no idea Farrar is deformed Shocked ...with a speech impediment and facial tic Puzzled ..(typical Tory)"

What a low blow.  He gets it right quite a lot of the time, and he does a very good job of getting on the news.

I could end up being

Elijah's picture

I could end up being correct Sticking out tongue ...the latest opinion polls show a dramatic closing of the gap between the two parties.

I, for the first time in months, watched the television news last night where they reported this opinion poll.

I also saw David Farrar (of all people!) being interviewed and described as a 'Political Commentator' talking about Winston Peters...gosh...I had no idea Farrar is deformed Shocked ...with a speech impediment and facial tic Puzzled ..(typical Tory)
