Like a new home...

The floors are bare and chilly, and every footfall echos throughout the house.  The smell of fresh paint permeates each cold, unfamiliar room.  But you don't smell the paint or succumb to the chill, and the echos become as whispers; soft and soothing voices, welcoming you home.

Congratulations on the new site!

That was from memory,

That was from memory, Robert.  It's been ages since I've read Hamlet, so all in all, I don't think I did too badly!  ;o)

Okay, let's see if this

Summer Serravillo's picture

Okay, let's see if this works...

To be, or not to be; that is the question.

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

or to take arms agains a sea of troubles, and, by opposing, end them.

To die; to sleep no more.  And of a sleep to say we end the heartache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to.

'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wish'd.  To die, to sleep; to sleep, perchance to dream.

Ay, there's the rub.  For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come

when we have shuffled off thos mortal coil, must give us pause.

There's the respect that makes calamity of so long life.

For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,

the oppressor's wrong,

the proud man's contumely,

the pangs of disprised love,

the law's delay,

the insolance of office

and the spurns that patient merit of the unworthy takes,

when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin?

Who would fardles bear to grunt and sweat under a weary life,

were not for dread of something after death; the undiscovered country from whose born no traveller returns,

puzzles the will and makes us rather bear those ills we have than fly to others we know not of.

And thus, conscience makes cowards of us all.

And thus, the native hue of resolution is sickl'd o'er with the pale cast of thought.

And enterprise of great pith and moment, with this regard, their currents turn awry and lose the name of action...

It worked!!  Shocked)

Molto bene!  Grazie, Julian!   Shocked)

Aaah! In the rich-text mode!

Julian Pistorius's picture

Aaah! In the rich-text mode! I see. Yes, it seems that I was being a bit strict about which HTML tags I filtered. Sorry! Smiling

The simple rich text editing should work fine now. Could you give it a try again?

Thanks!
Julian

Hi Julian, I'm just trying

Hi Julian,

I'm just trying to get the line breaks to work.  Tried all appropriate HTML tags and even embedded escape sequences (really dating myself here).  Nothing works.

Grazie mille!

Not that much longer

I think I predated you on the old Yahoo! mailing list by a few weeks at most; that's not much. Besides, I'm not exactly doing all that much besides earning my living and loving my wife at the moment.

Did you really think I'd leave, Adam? I might not be on the same level as Linz or Sciabarra; I'm not the leader or the scholar they are, but I am comfortable here.

A new home, eh?

stormyeyes's picture

Well, I can certainly hear my bootheels echoing through the place, and I see far too many bare walls. This site is certainly cleaner than the old solohq.com; I like the new, minimalist style.

LET'S ROCK!

Lindsay: Congratulations, your new site looks great. I'm looking forward to visiting often. I like the clean look, and especially, the SOLO logo. Nice that all of the archives from the solohq are here. You guys did a lot of work and it looks like it turned out great. Everything I've tried seems to work. Great work and the very best of luck to you.

Better than a New Year, a new home is a chance to have thrown out everything you did not want or need and begin anew with the best from the past to create a new future.
