Oh, if it only had been just The National Review!
But, you're right: let's focus on the positive!
The
National Review has been negative to Ayn Rand for half a century since Rand and WFB fell out, something I mentioned in a previous post.
But Steve Forbes is reasonably sympathetic...quoted Rand in a couple of speeches during his 1996 Presidential bid, and once wrote an Editorial I read where aspects of The Fountainhead were woven throughout.
As this article says, and Forbes are not the only people making this point, there is a libertarian demographic out there crying out for a 'secular' movement to support, and are not keen on Republicans talking about gays and abortion.
Even Barry Goldwater was talking along those lines in retirement, lamenting the lunatic elements in the Republican party.
?!
"OF COURSE"?!
Right of center magazines have been something considerably less than fair to Rand for many, many years now.
Even something like this has been a long time coming, Elijah.
Of
course it is sympathetic and offers advice!
It is Forbes magazine.
I hope people notice the warning that the success of Objectivism will depend on 'Marketing'
...
to 'mobilise natural supporters', 'accentuate the positive' and to select the right issues.
These are points often lost on so many Objectivists as they fall out with each other, engage in esoteric behaviour, and 'lecture' people rather than asking what they think.
A lot of work to be done, and I am very positive about its likely success as a huge vacuum does exist among non religious freedom loving people.
Nice
Talk about a sympathetic treatment! Even offering advice!
