Widowed by 'Atlas Shrugged'

Since Lance has decided not to post on SOLO until he finishes The Book I thought it might be a good time to introduce myself, and attempt to prove to Mitch that I am not a fictional character made and played by Mr Davey.

I got onto this site to see what Lance was ranting on about all the time.  To my horror I found he had labelled me a socialist baptist and so immediately signed up in the vain hope that he would change his profile.  He did, but only to add the word champagne to it!  So I guess that means you lot are stuck with me for awhile.  Smiling
If you wonder where the label comes from, well I'm a music teacher.  As all teachers are apparently 'socialists' I get thrown in with them.  The rest of it is for added colour I think, although I found out on Friday that I turned a student on to religion after scaring them, apparently badly, with a piece called 'Black Angels' by George Crumb.  Oh the power of music.  I had better be careful how I use that power as I don't want to risk my own soul by converting susceptible youth into worshipping false idols.  HA!
Yours for now,
Mrs Grace Davey
PS We have the current copy of Free Radical but a previous one would be all good.  Smiling

Lance and I both finished The Book today.  It is probably the first and last time we will read the same book before the other has finished it.  We are still happily married, if anyone was wondering.

Thanks Sandi and Claudia

I gave up being widowed by Atlas Shrugged, as I was unable to wait for Lance to finish it before I started.  Between both of us reading the one copy we are not spending a lot of time chatting, but at least we are not short of topics.  This site gives us endless fodder and with The Book on top of that ... phwoar!

Hi Grace

Welcome to Solo.

By the looks of it you will fit in really well Smiling

Welcome Grace.

Always great to see a new woman on Solo... especially one who is not a socialist/baptist. Eye

You may end up with a different husband than the one you married... Atlas has this funny way of changing people... but almost always for the better.

No no

shan't divulge my workplace in a public forum such as this, my many fans would then know where to find me! Sticking out tongue

I grew up in Palmerston

I was happy to marry a cloakroom and form an alliance with a parcel.

Palmerston North is a funny wee town

When people get upset over something their first response is not to say something, certainly not to those who caused the upset, it is to go home and write a letter and send it to almost anybody else.  I find it a lot like a South Island town, wide streets, well planted, careless drivers and quite conservative in outlook.  I guess I miss living in a bigger place but it is what you make of it and life is pretty darn fine.

While I have had private students of primary age I just couldn't cope with a class or them.  So high school, where I can get as passionate and as insane as I like and it just overlooked as I am the 'music teacher'.

Woodville?! A haaaandbaaaaag????!!!!

I met Lance on the side of the road just outside of Woodville, it was dark and I foolishly, or fortunately, stopped my car.

We truly must elope, Grace, before something dreadful happens. Only serial murderers are to be found at the side of the road just outside Woodville when it's dark. Or at any time.

Oh

Elijah Lineberry's picture

that is a relief!

Being either a Socialist or Baptist does seem rather 'odd'...it is beyond me why anyone would be against large profits and the resulting happiness, and for self denial and do-gooding.

What age are your pupils? primary? high school?

Palmy North is a nice city, made a lot of money there a couple of years back Sticking out tongue ...lived at the end of Albert Street, next to the golf course and river.

Typical

They all want to know more about LANCE!  Eye

I am neither a Socialist or a Baptist, I hope that is clarified.
I have taught full time for the past 8 years and the odd student for the past 17 years.

Awwwwww

you seem lonely.

So, one point I remain unclear on...are you (still?) a Socialist and Baptist?

Being a teacher seems interesting...how long have you been doing that?

Where did you and Lance meet? He seems a splendid fellow Smiling
