What happened to the Libertarianz, Fallen asleep?

Political parties have started to manoeuvre to position themselves for the next election so I thought it was time to see what the Libertarianz are up to.

I hear that the Libertarianz party is busy writing press releases and stuff but uh. The last one on your web-site was 40 days ago!

Does the Libertarianz party exist? Are you guys serious as a political party? Last year I even joined the party and paid my fees, only to never hear even as little as confirmation of the received funds. I know some Libertarianz members are active on Solo but it is preaching to the converted. Why is the web-site not up to date? why aren't you guys out there spreading the word?

I very much intend to vote for what I believe in this time around and the Libertarian principles are closest to mine but there is no way I vote for a symbolic protest party. Tell me, what are you? What do you want to be?

suppose a lot of inertia (real or suspected) would come down to financial resources.

It is good Dinther has joined the party and can be a freedom fighter in an even more proactive way. Smiling

What are Libertarianz up to?

Hi Dinther

You have raised some good points and I will try to address them here.

Libertarianz are manoeuvring for the next election. We are producing transitional policies that will outline how we are going to move New Zealand over time (up to 5 years) from authoritarianism to libertarianism. These are not yet ready for publication.

Thank you for joining up to the party. Your lack of a receipt when you joined the party is not acceptable and I apologise. I can only say that we have been transitioning to a new (better) members database and some usual procedures in the time period you joined up were not followed because of this.

The party has been a bit quiet lately and, contrary to what Linz has posted above, Linz's recent wake up call was much appreciated (in its content - perhaps not its tone Smiling ). Our lack of website updates and press releases over the last month are being addressed. However, this does not mean we have been asleep. Here are a couple of examples of what Libz has been up to in the last week:

Interview of myself and party leader Bernard Darnton published on Wednesday:
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Libertarianz_discusses_a_free_state_with_Wik...

Richard Goode's select committee submission on the banning of BZP was presented to parliament on Wednesday. Linz and Richard presented and Linz got a sound-bite on TV3 news
http://tv3.co.nz/VideoBrowseAll/PoliticsVideo/tabid/370/articleID/37596/...

Regarding what Libertarianz are and what do we want to be - I will briefly outline that here:
Ultimately, Libertarianz would like to get the 5% of votes necessary to get members into parliament. We will then vote on the cross-benches for anything that increases freedom and against anything that increases authoritarianism.
Secondly, recognising that electoral success is some way off, our secondary objective is to spread our ideas and try to get them picked up by other political parties. This is why we spend time producing detailed select committee submissions to parliament and why we are developing transitional policies that other political parties can cherry pick for ideas (since they actually don't have any).
We need votes and support to achieve both of these goals. Our secondary objective may relegate us to the "protest vote" category, however, every member and vote we can get makes our case stronger and gives us more credence when fobbing off our ideas to politicians who only care about votes.
We would certianly appreciate it if you were able to help us by becoming more active in the party to ensure that we are doing all that we can.

Regards
Craig Milmine

... with them at the moment for rarking them up from their state of catatonia. I have "offended" them, the wet wusses. The Libz president, leader, deputy and many others are signed on here but are inert. Some of them will be at the Atlas bash tonight, so they'll get their asses kicked again. Smiling I've also posted this on the libertyloop.

I take that as a "yes"
