The case for abolition of the New Plymouth District CouncilSubmitted by Elijah Lineberry on Wed, 2007-11-14 06:30.
The New Plymouth District Council should be abolished. My reason for suggesting this is the takeover offer they have made for Tasman Farms Ltd, on Unlisted.co.nz It came as a shock to learn this Council has decided to go into the Dairy Farm business in Australia...(wtf?!?!)..rather than continuing as a local government entity! What is a District Council doing going into business?!?!?! This shows that New Plymouth ratepayers have been cheated for years by paying far more rates money than could possibly be required if the Council has a spare $70 million lying around to settle this takeover at the price they are offering. There is no justification for this takeover whatsoever, the council should resign, and Parliament should do the decent thing and simply abolish local government in New Plymouth.

That's excellent!
If your friend wants cheap, high quality copies, I can get Shirley to do them and post them out.
Yes?
WOW Déjà vu
A dear friend of mine was speaking of this very subject only a few minutes ago. The New Plymouth District Council is renown for corruption over many years. As you quite rightly say Elijah, absolutely zero justification and hey, it was they who vetoed against smoking in the parks as well.
A spark of hope however, my friend has volunteered to reprint five hundred copies of Samizdat for distribution around Taranaki.
