JohnB couldn't make it because of the airport problems (a light plane flipped on the runway in Wellington) so was stuck in Wellington. But we had it covered and there were some good speeches. Stephen Franks talked a bit too much though I thought.

Would someone like to give a report on the Wellington march. It looked a bit depressing from the news, regarding low turnout, partly due, I realise, to the incident at Wellington airport.

Especially annoying from the six o'clock news report was a group of protestors protesting the protest: WTF? What was their argument and did they represent any particular group?

Crap! Guess I'll not be attending either then, there's no earlier buses.

bus from Palmy North stops at the railway station...but, I must say, Lance, it is a fair hike from there to where the March commences (especially with a mere 6 minutes in which to do so).

The march will commence from civic square at 12:30. I'm not sure of the closest bus stop, but it's right next to the Michael Fowler Centre, the Town Hall and the Library, so there will definitely be a bus stop close by.

I've decided to stay away myself. The ACT and National Parties who are behind this march are peeved because their donors will have to declare. Fair enough, but that's as far as it goes with them. The rest of the time they'll happily trample on our liberties. And the fact is, we are at the point I outlined in today's Op-Ed. Single-issue marches organised by the likes of Farrar and Boskawen are a waste of time. Government as at present constituted has finally, definitively lost its legitimacy with this Bill, which will become law regardless of all the histrionics tomorrow. Doing anything less than confronting that is just wanking.

Callum - just ditch school and attend the march. High school in NZ was an almost complete waste of time when I was there in the 90s, and by all account it's only gone downhill since then.

Have a word with your form teacher (is that what they're still called) Callum: surely a good class project to get the whole class on the march. I can't see anything inappropriate in that. Would at least put the teacher on the spot in explaining why not to letting you go.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to come as I will be indoctrinated at school. Education being an obstacle to free speech. How ironic. Anyway, hopefully it's a great march nonetheless.
