Libz Press Release - Give Helen Hell on Wednesday!Submitted by Bernard Darnton on Mon, 2007-11-19 20:22.
PRESS RELEASE Party leader Bernard Darnton said today that he was "staggered" that the Electoral Finance Bill had come back from select committee even worse than originally drafted. "Given how awful the Bill was, it's unbelievable that it has come back from select committee even worse." "The clock is ticking for freedom of speech in this country. Not even the smallest act of political opposition escapes this Bill's reach. Every political comment made during an election year must carry an authorisation statement. The Clark government's message to anyone who opposes it is, 'We know who you are and we know where you live.'" Darnton encouraged people to join the march on Parliament this Wednesday. "Anyone, of any political stripe, who believes in open political debate should march on Parliament this Wednesday Show your opposition to this attempted repression." "The tired and corrupt Clark regime is no longer fit to govern. They want to make it illegal to tell that truth. Tell it on Wednesday." The march against the Electoral Finance Bill leaves Civic Square in Wellington at 12.30 on Wednesday. ENDS For more information, see www.libertarianz.org.nz or contact:

Auckland 1 Dec 2:30 pm
I'll be there. Where can I find more info on this?
Carbon Tax is a hoax. Read more at carbonhoax.org.nz and spread the word.
Ummmm...?!?!
Victoria Square to Cathedral Square?!?!
A 'march' of 100 metres?!?
gosh...we would not want the good folk of Christchurch to overtax themselves, would we?
"The PM was not impressed
"The PM was not impressed with 2000.....so I want to give her 5000" says JohnB.
Auckland is getting a second bite of the cherry on December 1st, 2:30pm.
As for Chch...
This Wednesday 12.30pm from Victoria Square to Cathedral Square.
Can't hardly wait.
Mark
I've written to John@boscawen.co.nz to get details as they arise. Will report.
Just had lunch at the Backbencher and totally saw him there. But lost sight of him so was unable to inquire.
Who's coming to the
Who's coming to the Christchurch one?
Does anyone know what day this is going to be yet? I've got to do a business trip next week, as I now live away from my client base: nine clients to see across two days, four of whom are ringing me - once I slot the first appointment in, I'm committed ...
Hijacked!
TV1 and TV3 chose to focus on a minor accident involving a light aircraft blowing over on its back at Wellington Airport, the 8 Young Labour lackeys with a megaphone, and more bullshit from the Greens Leader, rather than report on the greatest tragedy New Zealand is ever likely to suffer: the loss of free speech.
You'd think the media would be interested in that.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Mr Callum!
Yeah, we had a bunch of Labour (they deny this) youngsters crash in. Glenn was very unhappy about this.
Not as good'a turn out as in Auckland, but much more fun!
I met lots of old mates, and yapped to strangers who popped along for the right reasons. Included Callum's Dad, who's a good keen man.
Glenn and Claudia got some good shots. The above is really good one of me (given the honor of carrying the Winston effigy) from Scoop news which also has more pics of our people.
Scoop news
JohnB couldn't make it because of the airport problems (a light plane flipped on the runway in Wellington) so was stuck in Wellington. But we had it covered and there were some good speeches. Stephen Franks talked a bit too much though I thought.
Who's comming to the Christchurch one?
SOLOists on 3 News!
I'm happy to report that Dad, Glenn Jameson and Bernard Darnton all appeared in Three's coverage of the protest march. Perhaps some more people on One news, too.

Would someone like to give a
Would someone like to give a report on the Wellington march. It looked a bit depressing from the news, regarding low turnout, partly due, I realise, to the incident at Wellington airport.
Especially annoying from the six o'clock news report was a group of protestors protesting the protest: WTF? What was their argument and did they represent any particular group?
Rick!
That would be "Mr Callum"!
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
I
wonder if Callum's non attendence was because Euan read this evil story in the Daily Mail, where a Mother was gaoled for allowing her Daughter to miss school on a few occasions!
What a shameful situation.
A Court wants to "make her change her ways" [to what the State wants]
Jameson
ASAP. How bout Friday?
Time to go
Am heading into town now. Will see you jokers down there.
Shall have my podcasting mic with hopes of adding content to the next show Callum and I have been working on.
You may be interested to know that ACT On Campus have also tried to get Callum to attend.
Back them up Mrs Callum! We're good libertarians too.
Government as at present constituted has finally, definitively lost its legitimacy with this Bill
Yeah, we're going to have to have a chat about that!
Not something to say lightly by the likes of us.
When do you need it?
.
Report!
I need someone to write a report for Samizdat!
Glenn, Olivia, Lance, Phil, someone?
It must be short (500ish words) and KASS. Who's up?
See you tomorrow!
Read your op-ed, Lindsay...
Got your point. See you at breakfast...
Why are you not driving down
Why are you not driving down to the Capital?
My chauffeur is on holiday, as is my tea-strainer.
Are you being a wanker, Goode?
Use a smiley, man - use a smiley!
There
is a return bus departing at about 7:30pm (ish) from the railway station...or the train at 5:30pm (ish)
Why are you not driving down to the Capital?
Anyway, just walk down
Anyway, just walk down Lambton Quay in the direction of the square and you will meet them coming the other way if by chance you don't make it in time.
's a good plan
Then it's just a matter of getting home again, which is as yet unplanned...
Euan
Half way through Atlas, excellent. You'll soon be as wise as your youngster
I see this is your first post to SOLO; hope to see a lot more.
Wanking
And we've all been just wanking for too long.
This is solo passion, after all.
Oh!
gosh! you are a suit wearer?
Gosh...what a delight to hear!
that is jolly splendid news.
Claudia
My thanks to you and all the other Soloist for your efforts to bring up my off-spring...You may be interested to know that ACT On Campus have also tried to get Callum to attend.
Anymore criticism from you lot and I'm changing my name to Elijah!
I must admit to being a tad cynical about protest marches, but I will get there for some of it (I have a meeting booked at 2pm), so I am looking forward to meeting you all there. I'll be the dickhead wearing a suit.
Pity to hear about the no show Linz.
Halfway thru Atlas and loving it!
You'll be right Lance
It will start late.
Anyway, just walk down Lambton Quay in the direction of the square and you will meet them coming the other way if by chance you don't make it in time.
Actually, looking at a map,
Actually, looking at a map, I may be able to collide with them before they finish. Just won't be able to make it to the square is all
Die In A Fire Lineberry!
Die In A Fire Lineberry!
You
are going to kill me for suggesting this
....
but, what about the 6:30am train?
Crap! Guess I'll not be
Crap! Guess I'll not be attending either then, there's no earlier buses.
The
bus from Palmy North stops at the railway station...but, I must say, Lance, it is a fair hike from there to where the March commences (especially with a mere 6 minutes in which to do so).
Civic Square
The march will commence from civic square at 12:30. I'm not sure of the closest bus stop, but it's right next to the Michael Fowler Centre, the Town Hall and the Library, so there will definitely be a bus stop close by.
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
Nothing to discuss
Which part of the op-ed is not clear?
And if I'm right, why would I waste time on a silly march, made up largely of people I don't trust myself not to punch?
And that's just the Libz, Glenn!
That was a smiley face.
But I still won't be marching.
Okay...
I'm looking for the smiley face but I can't see it...
Lindsay, we'll have to discuss your boycott over breakfast.
Well I'll be getting into
Well I'll be getting into Wellington at 12:24 on the bus. Now all I need to know is where the bus stops, and which direction do I run to catch up with the march?
Will there be beer afterwards?
Actually ...
I've decided to stay away myself. The ACT and National Parties who are behind this march are peeved because their donors will have to declare. Fair enough, but that's as far as it goes with them. The rest of the time they'll happily trample on our liberties. And the fact is, we are at the point I outlined in today's Op-Ed. Single-issue marches organised by the likes of Farrar and Boskawen are a waste of time. Government as at present constituted has finally, definitively lost its legitimacy with this Bill, which will become law regardless of all the histrionics tomorrow. Doing anything less than confronting that is just wanking.
And we've all been just wanking for too long.
Why
is your Father not rushing to take part in the march like everybody else? ...(so it would be a simple matter of he asking you to tag along)
He is
He comes on everyday, and we've had good discussions about it. I'll direct him to this thread. With any due luck, it'll work.
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
Oh! :-)
It doesn't get much more monstrous than that. But your dad's here on SOLO, no? Might I suggest he front up on this thread? Then he'll find out what a monster worthy of the name can be like ...
That monstrous concept that is...
...parents.
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
Huh?
Then what is?
Absolutely agree but
I absolutely agree with all you guys, but it's not the actual school that's preventing me from going...
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
Same goes ...
... for anyone with uni classes. Fuck class! You don't put crap ahead of history!
Callum - just ditch school
Callum - just ditch school and attend the march. High school in NZ was an almost complete waste of time when I was there in the 90s, and by all account it's only gone downhill since then.

Buy and wear InfidelGear - 100% of all InfidelGear profit goes to SOLO!
Bugger the brainwashing, boy!
If this isn't a case for justifiable hooky I don't know what is!
Callum...
We'll miss you there. Can't you get Mum of Dad to give you the day off... tell them you'll do the dishes every morning and night for a week.
Callum
Hasn't the PPTA come out officially against the EFB?
Have a word with your form teacher (is that what they're still called) Callum: surely a good class project to get the whole class on the march. I can't see anything inappropriate in that. Would at least put the teacher on the spot in explaining why not to letting you go.
Evil School is in the way
Unfortunately, I won't be able to come as I will be indoctrinated at school. Education being an obstacle to free speech. How ironic. Anyway, hopefully it's a great march nonetheless.
"Socialism may be dead, but its corpse is still rotting up the place"-Ayn Rand
As much as I hate marching
As much as I hate marching I'll certainly be making up the numbers at the Chch protest: can someone post details of same when they have them please.
Claudia and I
are flying down tomorrow morning... should be fun!
On my way down now. Hope to
On my way down now.
Hope to see some Soloists!
KILL THE BILL
Get your arse on the street to protest, people, while it's still legal!
