U.S. Foreign PolicySubmitted by personallydisin... on Mon, 2007-12-17 03:47.
U.S. foreign policy over the last 60 years has contributed to many injustices in the modern era. From overthrowing democratically elected governments to training and funding terrorists, the U.S. has helped to create a more dangerous world and nearly bankrupted itself in the process. While terrorists are plotting their revenge and blowing themselves up, the military industrial complex is stronger than ever, and our military is portrayed as completely incompetent so that contractors can do the same job for 10 times the cost. Perhaps you believe that Muslims will not stop until they kill us all, they are capable of killing us all, we have done nothing to earn their ire, and we should kill them all first. I can't currently understand the logic behind such thoughts. Perhaps one of us can be enlightened by a discourse on the subject. A good summary of my problem with U.S. foreign policy is located at:

I read the first sentence three times
And I was dismayed. But I still managed to read the rest of your post.
Reading the first and last sentence
I read the first two and the last sentence of your piece and have to take you to task for them. I agree totally with the first sentence so I was hopeful, then I read the next one and all hope left me. Being a 'democratically elected government' does not make you a legitimate one. After all, NAZIs were 'democratically elected' and they certainly were huge rights violators on a massive scale. The purpose of government is to protect individual rights. If you fail to do that, or worse actively and wilfully violate them, then said government isn't legitimate at all. Can you name one government that the US has toppled that fits this moral criteria?
Now to the last point: they do hate us because we are rich and free -- but more importantly by howwe became rich and free. Inconsistent as it is in the US for the most part we reject mysticism and purse values in a free market with protections of individual rights solidly in place. Which ever flying spaghetti monster 'they' believe in should have smote us long ago for our 'materialism' and we should be miserably unhappy -- but she didn't and we aren't. This flies in the face of their worldview and must be destroyed.
