Irreverent rascals!
It's interesting that I had been symptom-free for quite some time, and my arteries certified clear. As soon as I went back on air I got the pains again. Not thru being on air as such, I'm sure, as the sense that overwhelmed me of pearls before the Drooling Beast. I never felt it so strongly as the Inia Te Wiata day:
"Listen, what's the most horrible experience you can imagine? To me—it's being left, unarmed, in a sealed cell with a drooling beast of prey or a maniac who's had some disease that's eaten his brain out. You'd have nothing then but your voice—your voice and your thought. You'd scream to that creature why it should not touch you, you'd have the most eloquent words, the unanswerable words, you'd become the vessel of the absolute truth. And you'd see living eyes watching you and you'd know that the thing can't hear you, that it can't be reached, not reached, not in any way, yet it's breathing and moving there before you with a purpose of its own. That's horror. Well, that's what's hanging over the world, prowling somewhere through mankind, that same thing, something closed, mindless, utterly wanton, but something with an aim and a cunning of its own."
But I also realised as I read out my own 22 Top Ways You Know It Was 2007, and Lance's Carbon Footprint thing, or threw out outrageous one-liners, that I was utterly, utterly wasting my breath and my emotional energy. My very first words on air on Dec 27 were: "I'm Lindsay Perigo and I'm a dinosaur, whom Radio Live digs up when it runs out of presenters." A dinosaur and an anachronism. Our age belongs to the Drooling Beast. Sealed back in the talkback chair after so many months away, I was never more excruciatingly aware of the fact. It was horror.
Now, back in Wgtn, pain-free and fit as a fiddle.
Laid up?
You wish (wink).
Looking forward to seeing you back on deck - captain.
I'm not surprised you've gone home...
... you're not a man to do anything halfheartedly!
I brought a bottle of medicinal Serine Syrah around to Room 113, but Baron Big Balls had already checked out. Will slot it in the cellar in anticipation of your speedy return.
ARRRRRGH!
Well can you please provide the phone number for Lindsay's heart so I can give the bastards running that outfit a piece of my mind! For various reasons I missed the 1st couple of shows, I've been in Tekapo for the last two days so no reception there, I'm coming down today and we can FINALLY tune in on time and...No Linz! Just my damn luck eh? Bugger, bugger, bugger.
In all seriousness though, I hope it's nothing too serious Lindsay.
Ah, it's just heart
Ah, it's just heart disease then. That's okay: would have been hell to pay otherwise
Luckily you know the remedy for heart complaints: red wine.
(I've sent Radio Live a polite little retraction, and asking when I can hope to hear from you next.)
A coronary issue ...
.... has arisen. No cause for alarm, but I'll be returning to Wellington tonight. I was supposed to be on air till the 4th. Don't berate Radio Live for it - it's not their fault, and they've been very good in rescheduling my flight at their own expense. Tell them how much you love and miss me by all means.
Linz
Excellent idea Claudia
Excellent idea Claudia ... and done.
He's meant to be on today...
I suggest you all ring Radio Live and register your disappointment that some other droll dropkick is in his place.
Damn. The title for
Damn. The title for this thread said it went to the 4th? I feel particularly stupid and angry with myself because the times I have been listening to the show I've not rung in, thinking I'd leave it to the last few days (while selfishly enjoying the show in the meantime).
I've just turned the current show stream off: it doesn't interest me.
Nope
He finished yesterday.
Where's Linz?
It's Wednesday (2 January) afternoon, 2.30pm and no Linz on Radio Live??
Another good interview
Beryl Te Wiata was just lovely, and I promptly ordered 'Just Call Me Happy' for my father. When Rima first appeared on television my father would sit us down to watch and he would talk about Inia's voice. My father does a bit of singing so he should enjoy the gift.
Great...
show yesterday Lord Big One! Looking forward to tuning in today between activities.
Dizzy Linz
Entertaining show today Lindsay. It was Willie Apiata!
SOLOists - where are you?
Lindsay is on air right now! Call in - support the cause!

Go to it!!!!
Great stuff.
Great stuff.
Excellent Linz...
I'll be tuning in. Perfect timing for you to be on talk-back, given the Labour induced cynicism out there and their blatant ignoring of democratic freedoms. I think a lot of disillusioned people will be calling in, as well as quietly taking on board what you have to say.
Woo-Hoooo!!!
Finally, something to listen to on the radio!!
Influence gathering ground
Banks borrowed from Perigo for his own radio act - but listeners had to put up with his mysticism.
Listeners were genuinely disappointed when Linz last left them.
The best way to crystallize the thoughts of the like-minded public and keep them fired-up over the holidays.
Good for you Linz- finally I
Good for you Linz- finally I will be able to hear what all the fuss is about.
Thanks Mark for thinking of the yanks.
And for the non Kiwis, Radio
And for the non Kiwis, Radio Live does an excellent real time, online stream, of their entire broadcast, so everybody can listen in.
Better and better.
Better and better. I'll be working through so will be able to tune in.
