December Summary
Happy New Year!

Activity

It has been a predictably quiet month with a bit of a drop in press releases and op-eds, with only 12 going out, though I have to say the calibre has been outstanding. NZ-centric releases that went out to independent news site Scoop.co.nz were well received. At one point three SOLO pieces were in the top 10 most read articles on the site, with two holding the top two places for over a day, thanks in no small part to the articles in question being featured and headlined on Scoop's front page. Thanks to Liz we now have a very similar platform in the US with Real Clear Politics. SOLO-US and general SOLO releases will be posted there in future. Take the time to vote for them as it not only gives SOLO views more exposure but generates traffic back to SOLO.

Membership

Welcome to all new members. Despite flouncings, blockings or quietly-slipping- aways, we have made a net gain on membership in December.

Awards

Well, with Linz away in Auckland busy with his radio show, there is no KASS SOLOist of the month award as yet. Incidentally if you haven't tuned into the show, you missed an excellent feature on Inia Te Wiata yesterday. Lindsay is on from 2pm-6pm on Radio Live. Go here for streaming radio or for frequencies.

Fatwa Award: Glenn Jameson for his excellent satirical pieces on voting Natscum. Oh how we laughed!

SOLO Quote of the Month: “If Labour are the type to launch a 'dramatic assault' on liberty, then National are the type to give her a quiet back alley raping, then tell us that she was asking for it.” Crude, tasteless and completely on the money! (Yes, I awarded that to myself.)

PR of the Month: Hysteria and Humbuggery Seasonal, insightful - and the reworked sermon was inspiring!

Persistence Award (of the year!): Marcus and his tireless Global Warming Swindle contributions.

Tis But a Scratch Award: William Green. Smiling

Business Time

2008 will be an election year both in NZ and the US. My pick would be Fred Pauliani; unfortunately he doesn't exist. I don't envy US SOLOists and their choices. NZ SOLOists have a dilemma: Do they vote on principle or do they vote tactical? I expect there will be strongly worded discussions about this. My vote for Libz is conditional on a strong, smart, campaign. Aside from a warm fuzzy feeling that one gets from adhering to principle in the face of danger, what else is on offer from the Libz?

Choice I'm not looking forward to that is likely
