Hello everyone, I am a new user to the SOLO site. My name is Rick Roberts, and I am a musician in our local music scene here in the Melbourne, FL area. I am also a well-read Objectivist and pro-war Libertarian, with a good amount of political activism at Wake Forest University and post grad as well. At the suggestion of an Objectivist friend, I am posting to try to obtain legal help in a long and protracted civil rights abuse case. The caseload is mountainous, and just about everyone I have approached about it has just shirked me off - many with a lack of respect and even insults. I have tried legal aid, the Florida Bar attorney listings, ARI, the local, state, and national LP, advocacy groups, and many civil rights organizations, with no tangible results. I am glad to say though, that all the civil rights groups stated that they were not denying the Validity of the case, but that they were just declining to actually Take the case. Objectivist Seeks Legal Help
Mark,
I understand your perspective, but I don't deem it necessary to delve into all the sorted mess on my legal case here on the SOLO site.
I am just trying to let this readership know an abbreviated version of a long chain of events, in the hopes of finding someone who will take on my caseload.
Rest assured, all counts of what I have presented here in the SOLO pages are completely true, and the actual crimes themselves are much worse than can be imagined by most. In other words, I'm sparing the readers of these postings the severely graphic elements of what has happened - of my own volition and at the suggestion of Luke Setzer.
It is my hope to secure legal help in a reasonable amount of time, as I agree with you that living life for the now and the future is preferable to remaining all tangled up in a lawyer search that has been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. For now, though, I am concentrating on SOLO, with plans to try other Objectivist sites if we don't get an affirmative response, and as time progresses.

Rick, and please note I'm not getting at you, but perhaps part of the problem in finding support is in how you are expounding your case, which is with not enough detail. Without the detail and context it's awfully easy to simply come off seeming a conspiracy theorist or loon - albeit, I'm not saying you are. For example:

Your parents and the US military are poisoning, physically abusing, and harassing you? Why?

Good luck with the problem, I hope you manage to sort it out. (Actually, another tact. Knowing nothing still about the problem, but readingbetween the lines anyway, it's not one of those issues you're simply best to split as far away from the people involved and get on with your life? If you spend years fighting whatever this is, you're not holding yourself back from simply living and making a happier path for yourself otherwise?)

basically, my rights have been trampled all over by my parents, in cooperation with the U.S. Military. I am a powerful musician and former student leader at Wake Forest University, and I guess my politics (Objectivist and Libertarian) just didn't suit their needs.
The case involves poisoning, physical abuse, and harrassment spanning several years, and I have met with alot of opposition from many of the sources I have approached in hopes of finding representation.
Luke Setzer suggested that I post on SOLO, with the goal of possible networking to find someone sympathetic to our views to take on the case.
