Life Changes and Other Things

Things are looking up Smiling. I've got my new job lined up in Chandler, AZ with Intel. I'll be a semiconductor process engineer specializing in High Density Plasma Chemical Vapor Depostion. I start March 13, WooHoo! The Phoenix area has two well established TOC-linked Objectivist Clubs.

It's been a fun two years working as a process integration engineer at IBM. I was in charge of 65nm Contact Integration, which meant doing process development for the processes that connect the transistor devices to the interconnect (or wiring in the chip).

This Sunday, Rita and I had dinner at a fantastic Malaysian restaurant in Manhattan. I've really enjoyed having some time to get down into the City more frequently

Good to see you too!

Ed,

It was good to see you too. We'll probably have a reasonable group of people coming in from Phoenix for the seminar, so it'll be a fun road trip Smiling.

Jim

Great seeing you at the New York Junto for AR-101! Best wishes on your move out West. You'll be within a day's drive of Chapman University for the Summer Seminar!

Good Wishes

Thanks Lance, Jody and Bill for the good wishes. Jason, I'll definitely look you up when I get there. I do like the Desert Southwest very much. I lived for two years in Albuquerque, NM and enjoyed it very much. There's lots of neat hiking and fly fishing to do in New Mexico and the weather's great. I expect the Phoenix summers will be scorchers, but at least I won't have to deal with snow anymore Smiling.

I am sure you will enjoy it here in the Phoenix metro area. It is a great place it live. If you have any questions or issues that I can assist you with let me know.

James, congrats and best of luck in Phoenix. I live at the edge of the Texas Hill Country which appears to be the beginnings of the desert southwest. Dunno where you've spent most of your time but there is a rugged individualist feel to the people here that I really like. I expect that's the mindset for west Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and parts of California. But they'll get you into an air-conditioned lab in a hurry. It's only harsh when you want it to be Smiling. The summer will be brutally hot I'm sure but the rest of the year will be spectacular. And Wayne Gretzky coaches the hockey team there. What more could you ask for?

Have fun.

P.S. - Cary Grant trumps Gregory Peck. Laughing out loud

Congratulations

Jim,

I second Jody's thought.

Congratulations James. The desert southwest: one of my favorite regions.

I haven't the faintest idea

I'm sorry I slipped into geek speak Smiling, I really will make sure I keep that on a leash. It's a way of putting electrical insulators in computer chips.

I probably haven't said it enough during the sharp debating, but I really like the new SOLO site and the personality make-up of the people now on it. It's much more fun to debate with people who won't wilt and blow away at the first sign of sharp confrontation or permanently lose control when things get hot.

Anyway, glad your life-changes are to your liking, James! Smiling
