"It is inconceivable that you can hold open fair and free elections if you have media intimidation and great restraints on the freedom of expression,"

I don't understand what point you're trying to make?

I'm saying it would be nice to have some thoughtful analysis of current events by the media, and a very good inception point for same would be to confront Helen Clark with this, her very own, contradiction. Just what is her position on free speech? She had done something legislatively, promoted and passed the EFA, and now, here, she is seeming to say something that implies the reverse of her actions. I suspect she is learning quickly from Key: trying to eat her cake and have it to. Or from another angle, given the EFA makes clear what her position is,  how can she have the gall to say this?

You're not saying the media is not allowed to think? Analyse? Question?

I'd rather have an intelligent media, or to perhaps word it better, sign of some intelligence working somewhere in the media.

If the reporters are only there to have fun and catch people in embarassing poses, are they doing their job and providing us with politics or would pop news items become more popular than real news.Surely Helen is just asking them to stick to the the job they are there to do.Do we realy want to see news item about politicians with their finger up their nose or giving the finger or just scratching an arse. The public would love it but is it politics?

Absolutely agree with

Absolutely agree with Sandi on this one, Clark's hypocrisy for the world to see. Now if TVNZ were doing their job, they would jump on this sentence and be asking questions, many questions. Bet they don't though.

The most damning condemnation of a tyrant, from the tyrant's own mouth. I wonder if when she said this, the EFA and the protests against it, even crossed her mind? Must have, surely.

I give up. Where's bin Laden?
