Afghan Protesters Urge Kabul to Punish Denmark, Netherlands for 'Insulting' Islam
By VOA News

Afghans protest 'insults' to Islam in Pul-i-Alam, capital of Logar province, 05 Mar 2008
Hundreds
of protesters in Afghanistan have urged their government to punish
Denmark and the Netherlands for cartoons and a film that the
demonstrators say insult Islam.
More than 300 students, religious figures and other Afghans joined
an anti-Danish and anti-Dutch rally Wednesday in the eastern town of
Pul-i-Alam, capital of Logar province. Some burned Danish and Dutch
flags.
Elsewhere, about 20 local elected officials rallied in the eastern
province of Nangarhar. The protests demanded that Kabul cut ties with
Denmark and the Netherlands and expel their forces from Afghanistan.
Afghans have held a series of protests to condemn the recent
reprinting of a satirical cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad in Danish
newspapers. The rallies also condemned plans by a Dutch lawmaker to
release a film critical of the Koran.
There are about 1,500 Dutch troops and 630 Danish soldiers in
Afghanistan as part of the multinational NATO-led force fighting
Taliban militants and rebuilding the war-shattered country.
In neighboring Pakistan, foreign ministry spokesman, Mohammed Sadiq
accused Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders of "propagating the politics of
hate and xenophobia" through his upcoming film about the Koran.
Wilders, who has received death threats, has defended his film,
saying he does not mean to stir up trouble and wants to exercise his
right to freedom of speech.
The Pakistani foreign ministry official says there is a difference
between freedom of expression and what he calls "a license to insult."

Nato fears over Dutch Islam film
Nato's secretary general says he fears the airing of a Dutch film criticising Islam will have repercussions for troops in Afghanistan.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer's comments came after Afghans protested on Sunday against the film being made by far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders.
The Dutch government has warned Mr Wilders that the film will damage Dutch political and economic interests.
Mr Wilders says the film is about the Koran but has given few details.
In the past, he has called for the Koran to be banned and likened it to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.
The project has already been condemned by several Muslim countries, including Iran and Pakistan.
Nato's secretary general said he was concerned about his troops after the protests against the film in Afghanistan.
"If the [troops] find themselves in the line of fire because of the film, then I am worried about it and I am expressing that concern," he said in a television interview.
'Kick out forces'
On Sunday, hundreds of Afghans took to the streets in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif to protest against the film.
Demonstrators burned Dutch flags, and called for the withdrawal of Dutch troops from the Nato force.
The demonstrators say they will step up their protests unless the Afghan government expels the troops.
The protesters also criticised the recent republication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad in several Danish newspapers, and called for the withdrawal of Danish troops.
"We don't want our government to have any diplomatic relations with these two countries," Maulawi Abdul Hadi, one of the protesters, told the Associated Press news agency.
"We don't want Danish and Dutch troops in Afghanistan. They should be kicked out of the Nato forces here."
Mr Wilders has said he expects his 15-minute work will be shown in the Netherlands in March and released on the internet.
Dutch authorities have told him he may have to leave the country for his own safety amid reports of death threats.

Beyond Reason...
The film shows atrocities inspired by the Koran. And Al-Queda says they will kill him for broadcasting that! Why? Because their response it yet further proof that it is true?
Further beyond reason, is that these primitive cesspool savages haven't even seen the film yet!
Islam must be beyond repraoch - there is no god but Allah
Islam punishes insulter's and blasphemers severely—and even executes them. This stifles free speech, even offensive speech. This repression is unwise in a society, because the truth will stay hidden.
The Quran asserts that insulters and mockers may be killed or condemned to hell.
Quran
Sura (33:57) - "Lo! those who malign Allah and His messenger, Allah hath cursed them in this world and the Hereafter, and hath prepared for them the doom of the disdained"
Sura (33:61) - [continues from above] "Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter."
Haddith
Bukhari (4:241) - Those who mocked Muhammad at Mecca were killed after he had retaken the city and asserted his authority.
Fitna
Qur'an 8:39: "And fight them until there is no more fitna, and religion is all for Allah..."
Fitna means tumult, oppression, persecution, great upheaval, which of course is what cartoon publishing and film making is to the Sharia minded.
