Boris is MayorSubmitted by Sandi on Fri, 2008-05-02 22:24.
"Boris Johnson is the new Mayor of London, his rivals conceded tonight. The Tory MP scored a stunning election victory to end Ken Livingstone's eight-year reign and round off a disastrous 24 hours for the Labour Party. Mr Johnson was so far ahead on first-preference votes he could not be caught by Mr Livingstone, even after second preferences were taken into account. The result in London came on a nightmare day for Gordon Brown, as Labour crashed to its worst town hall results in 40 years and lost more than 300 council seats." Isn't it highly ironic that someone called "Red" Ken was thrown out of office by someone called Boris? A well merited and justified slap across the face of Gordon Brown and Labour. Ok, so the "official" results aren't out yet, but the book-makers are already paying out.

How Could Boris Fail To Win? How Could John Key Lose?
This is a jolt for NZ Labour too. They'll take from this the message that the public are not fooled by Green posturing-and repeatedly failing socialist ideas. Once the economy falters the spotlight u-turns. At the ballot box; Will I be better off with more of the same? Hell no, so Key can't lose.
Livingstone's naked class warfare disguised as 'Planet Saving' of banning SUVs from his congestion zone one example.
In his campaign...
...Boris has talked the green talk. But I think that he was only concerned with pollution and avoiding getting labelled by the greens as a right-wing looney.
In reality, he has previously written that he thinks the Kyoto treaty is nonsense. Therefore, in terms of not taking the whole Global Warming alarmism seriously I think he will much better for London's economy than Ken Livingston, who recently bragged he was teaming up with the green party!
However, the London Mayoral vote also bears out that your typical voter (if they believe it at all) ranks Global Warming low down on their list of issues worth voting about.
Bravo London!
Ha HAAAAAAAAAAA!
OH politics just got colourful again! No doubt Borris's politics aren't exactly perfectly aligned with mine but this should be great fun none the less!
Except that Sarkozy is
Except that Sarkozy is hardly turning France around. Let's hope that Britain does better.
A taste of Boris
Hoooo-rah!!
Here's a viral political ad that was bouncing around before the election that seems to have done the trick...
Great news.
Let's hope Britain can turn itself around like France is trying to do with electing the likes of Sarkozy... before they erect that stinking fucking Mega-Mosque which Livingstone's been backing.
