John Galt Award for KASSery: the American Soldier Who Used the Koran for Target PracticeSubmitted by John Galt on Sun, 2008-05-18 05:48.
CNN laments: "A soldier used the Quran -- Islam's holy book -- for target practice, forcing the chief U.S. commander in Baghdad to issue a formal apology on Saturday. "Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, apologized to leaders in Radhwaniya, in the western outskirts of Baghdad, for the staff sergeant who was a sniper section leader assigned to the headquarters of the 64th Armored Regiment. He also read a letter of apology by the shooter. "It was the first time the incident -- which tested the relationship between U.S.-backed Sunni militiamen and the military -- was made public since it was discovered May 11." Evidently the staff sergeant compounded his "sin" by writing in the bullet-holed repository of garbage: "Fuck yeah!" SOLO hereby endorses his marginalia and bestows upon the as-yet-unnamed soldier the John Galt Award for KASSery in bringing new and glorious meaning to the term "holy book."

As always, appreciate the good words, Sandi. I just hope this soldier doesn't pay for the weakness of our 'leaders'.

Bosch, you have summed this up in one superb sentence.
The soldier's 'punishment' should be to actually read the Koran, in order to make him feel even more justified for shooting it up
Kudos!
The following is what
The following is what happens when we pretend to give a damn about a book that calls for our destruction.
Iraq party: Punish U.S. soldier who shot at Quran
If he didn't already, the soldier's 'punishment' should be to actually read the Koran, in order to make him feel even more justified for shooting it up.

Morally corrupt
And that is exactly what Islam demands.
The text in the holy
book, tells believers that they are superior to the non-believers who in turn endorse this by self-subjugation.
Endorsement is sanctioned by unbelievers who choose to trade with the believers whose ideals are thus perpetuated.
SHAKIR: 39:029 "Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection."
This sick, twisted idea that
This sick, twisted idea that we, the enemy's targets, should hold the enemy's beliefs as sacred as they do is what's got us in this unreal position where this unknown soldier will pay a price for it, in order to appease those who hold this disgusting 'holy' book above human life.

Unfortunately his superiors
Unfortunately his superiors make you want to vomit with their reaction/retraction. From CNN:
"I come before you here seeking your forgiveness," Hammond said to tribal leaders and others at the apology ceremony. "In the most humble manner I look in your eyes today and I say please forgive me and my soldiers."
Unfortunately his superiors make you want to vomit with their reaction. From CNN:
Another military official kissed a Quran and presented is as "a humble gift" to the tribal leaders.
Yes, well done to this
Yes, well done to this soldier chap, it is well overdue for someone to treat this book as it is deserved.
What a limp dick the commander is...sheesh....can you imagine General Westmorland apologising to the Vietcong?!?!
