Quote of the Day: Life on the Level

"This may sound naïve. But—is our life ever to have any reality? Are we ever going to live on the level? Or is life always to be something else, something different from what it should be? A real life, simple and sincere, even naïve, is the only life where all the potential grandeur and beauty of human existence can be found. Are there real reasons for accepting the substitute, that which we have today?"

 A damn fine question,

A damn fine question, indeed. Sadly, when bestselling books include THE 48 LAWS OF POWER, teaching Machiavellian techniques to the modern business world, I'm afraid to know the answer.

Still, there's hope, if one just drops the "we" and focuses on the "I." Can "I" live my life on the level. Or, define the "we" more specifically. If "we" means a nation, probably not. Hopefully one can find at least one other person, and get on with their lives.

The put it in literary terms, it's either ANTHEM or NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. Or is it?

In fact, I think that this might go straight to number one for me (Top 5 a certainty).
