More candidates for a well deserved machine-gunning...Submitted by Elijah on Thu, 2008-07-31 07:13.
Hot on the heals of being inexplicably criticised for suggesting the AUSA leadership require machine gunning, here are some other worthy candidates for this fate, notwithstanding my opposition to initiating force....(yeah, right) 1. A tribe of Maoris seeking to scam the State, by the odd name of Two Whores, have 'entered into negotiations' with the Crown about a Treaty settlement.
Needless to say...these chaps never even signed the Treaty
I mean..gosh...as they never signed up it would logically follow they had no valid claim....ah yes, but that is in the real World...this is the World of cheeky Maoris trying to scam...so bandy about the word "racist" to socialist politicians ...and...by magic... a couple of hundred million dollars appears in your bank account If anyone can tell me what Two Whores have a claim about....(and do not forget they are seeking a settlement under something they were never, and are not, a part of since 1840)...and what 'normal' New Zealanders will get for their 9 digit sum...by all means let me know. 2. Prime Minister of Australia, Kevin Rudd...for this pathetic story in the Sydney Morning Herald, about his family history and links to petty criminality...where tales of clothing theft, forgery and vagrancy abound. It seems this compendium was compiled by that bastion of Soothsayers and Witchcraft, the Moron Church, and Mr Rudd lapped it all up with his usual cringe inducing gaucherie. Call me old fashioned if you like, possums....but having spent 8 months destroying the Australian economy :p I would have thought with sky high taxes, petrol prices, rising inflation and interest rates Mr Rudd had more to do with his time than dwell on nonsense. 3. The England Cricket team....(this is just gut wrenching)...read on...gosh... 4. President Bush for signing a law giving a 'hand out' to assist 400,000 homeowners. The law means that people who cannot afford their mortgages can simply go cap in hand to the US Government and refinance at a nominal interest rate....all paid for by other people's money, and a further example of 'survival of the unfittest'. President Bush had once threatened to veto the legislation, but as he has no balls wimpily caved in and did so earlier today. A Travesty.
5. Yes, yes, I could go on and on...but it is so depressing I shall not bother...I have Sibelius playing on my computer and a large scotch in hand...so shall just enjoy the evening

Now I'm too subtle??
I know what it's called, and how the composer's name is spelled, (I play the basson, a little piano, have played Sibelius,) thanks anyway.
Very interesting to read Lindsay's historical post to Elijah, to get an idea of the censoring standards.

It seems English Cricket
It seems English Cricket officials are visitors to solopassion.com and take my (quite sensible) advice!
Michael Vaughan has resigned as England Cricket captain...and rightly so after the pathetic performance last week.

Once again
Well trawled WSS. Observant of the goings-on and knees-ups!
Sibelius, Sebelius, Schmorebelious
Mindy, the scalp disease is Seborrhea, the composer Lineberry sips Scotch to is Sibelius, and of course Sebelius is the current governer of Kansas, one of several folks touted to be part-Negro Barack Obama's Vice Presidential pick . . .
I don't know if deep down in his withered heart Lineberry is racist**, or would act ugly or be bigoted to a Mordi, Negro, Spaniard, simply because of their ethnic makeup, but he writes in unreconstructed racialist terms and is averse to acknowledging it -- so, Enoch Powell, though maligned as a racist, was not, was in fact a hero. Lineberry will thus rue the fall of the British Empire, and views giving the Negro the vote in former colonies in Africa as a betrayal of greater goals.
For a gruesome good time, have a gander at the post and thread in which he defended segregation as not racist, gosh.
Not a soul was able to convince him otherwise (though I must note that Lindsay gave him an excellent and wise short sharp spank at the time) -- a snippier, tetchier, more boorish set of responses could be imagined, but only from someone as stupid as Kevin Owen . . .
Lineberry is perhaps useful to SOLO. He was previously banned for crossing the racialist innuendo line, but gathered back into the fold because he isn't nearly as awful as some of the other banned Antipodeans such as Rick Giles or Ross Elliot. Before he was banned, he also recieved a verbal spanking from Lindsay, worth repeating, below.
I think it might be true that Lineberry is a boon and an asset to SOLO and its various related enterprises (he copy-edits Free Radical, once a job for the sharp eyes of Chris Sciabarra) -- he has a few dollars left over from bullion buys, and is said to be a gracious, warm, and charming companion at the varied SOLOish knees-ups in Auckland. Who knows -- the racialist buffoonery could be just a false front.
We will just have to gape at his dubious remarks on Negroes and darker styled people -- until such time as he crosses that invisible line once more.

_______
** I wager Lineberry has known some of the ugliness of bigotry, if only because he comes from a (rich-ish) Jewish family, is homosexual, is hemophiliac.

[from Lindsay's "Decision" post in the rancourous "Elijah Lineberry, are you a racist" thread introduced by Jameson.]
Below is the message I've just sent to Eli. Its import is that he's being stood down from the staff. He remains free to post here, but, lest anyone might have wondered, any racist views her may hold or express are at total odds with what SOLO stands for.

I just want to do you the courtesy of telling you privately first - we're standing you down from staff. Reason being that by your own statements you've raised a *legitimate* concern in people's minds that you might be a racist. It's not a lynch mob that has risen up against you, it's decent folk (well, most of them) who read your words and took them at face value. Which, on a site committed to saying what you mean and meaning what you say, they're entitled to do.
Mitch and I both think - and it's hard for us, not having met you - you got mad as hell for good reason, but said something really stupid, which you were then too proud properly to repudiate. We both find it impossible to believe that someone with your heritage would advocate "ethnic cleansing" and really mean it. Indeed, you've said you didn't. But it wasn't convincing, Eli - your critics are right about that. And there was that previous incident re the Jim Crow laws - you didn't resile from that at all!
I've spoken to Mitch just now and we both feel we've bent over too far to give you the benefit of the doubt - which is fine for a non-staffer but inappropriate for a staffer. Maybe you *deserve* the benefit of the doubt - if so, I'm sure that'll become apparent over time. But it's the old thing about Caesar's wife - must not only *be* beyond reproach but must be *seen* to be beyond reproach. I'm carrying a torch for Objectivism, which abhorrs racism. I mean it, and I must be seen to mean it. Folk are right to call me on this, just as they were to call you on your statements.
