Heads-Up for Kiwi SOLOists: The History BoysSubmitted by Lindsay Perigo on Sat, 2008-08-16 01:31.
I caught this movie part-way through by accident the other day and watched in enthralled, delighted disbelief. A contemporary (2006) movie with brains?! It's not an "Objectivist" movie, exactly, but it has plot, timeless themes, characterisation and wonderful dialogue that you don't have to strain to hear over a headbanging soundtrack. It's on again tonight, Sky TV, 10.35, and finishes in time for the rugby at 12.50. Rattiganesque, riveting, recommended!

What appears to have
What appears to have happened is that when the film was being made, and the play was 'on tour' in Britain, Tommy Morrison played Scripps (Jamie Parker being busy filming).

Which production? Jamie
Which production? Jamie Parker not only played Scripps in Wellington, Sydney, Broadway and Hong Kong productions, he actually originated the role. I believe he was even there for the initial reading of the play.
Yes, a splendid
Yes, a splendid play/film!
...the only disappointing aspect is that the play had the absolutely yummy Thomas Morrison playing the character 'Scripps', but for the film he was replaced by Jamie Parker..*sigh*
Any solo-ists with Sky Television should tune in.
