I have a huge amount of respect for Lindsay, gained from reading her blog for a long time now. Yes, ACT, but I've always considered her a Libertarian: a freedom lover.

Unfortunately, she's been shafted by the Party. Which means the truth is out, whatever else the ethos of ACT represents, a meritocracy is not one of its guiding principles.

They never had my vote anyway, but, ahem, 'Libertarians' thinking of voting ACT should take note. And a damned shame NZ will not have Mitchell anywhere near the helm, for the compulsion touters have won the day.

Um, I've just heard a radio report, while typing the above, that ACT's fifth list place is vacant and they are looking to fill it? WTF? Well if they can't put Mitchell in that slot, freedom ain't anywhere on their agenda.

Oh for Christ's sake,

Oh for Christ's sake, they'd put a populist airhead like Hopkins over Mitchell, with her inviolate 'freedom' credentials, and phenomenal grasp of the welfare issues in New Zealand, the evils of, gained by her hard work and activism in constantly getting these issues to the media?

Whoever is making these decisions at ACT deserves to be padlocked in Jim's shed. Mind you, on the bright side, I hope ACT have just given a block of their vote to the Libz.

ACT losing their way?
From Blair Mulholland:

But what was most concerning was the little Nazi speech Rodney gave at the end as to why he supported making it illegal to insult cops. I'll repeat that: Rodney Hide supports making it illegal to diss blue bureaucrats. It was weird. Completely out of character. As if he'd been posessed by the ghost of Ron Mark. Even worse, he got thunderous applause and a standing ovation for it, which, as we all know, is how freedom dies.

As I understand it, the position has been filled, just not announced yet.

Rumour has it that it is Jim Hopkins
