This morning I was at the Auckland University library doing some research.

I rather like that library as (unlike Auckland Public Library) they do not allow vagrants in the building to stink and sleep; the selection of books is wide and there is always something nice to look at...

Anyway, as often happens, after an hour or so without either a cup of tea or cigarette I was in desperate need of both and went in search of these splendid necessities of life.

I did not have much trouble bumming a cigarette from a cute history student called Steve... (although he firmly declined my second request and was unhappy about my hand rubbing up and down his back)...and I then went seeking that elusive cup of tea from one of the many cafes on the Campus.

The cafe I chose was full of 'wet', wimpy students milling around in a long queue...and not being a 'waiting-in-line' sort of chap I thought 'stuff this' and barged  to the front to demand the Chinese girl serving give me a cup of tea to take away, milk and two sugars.

She seemed genuinely surprised I was not ordering coffee like the wet, wimpy students..and then launched into some silly sales pitch by saying "we have a selection of fair trade teas for you" ...and after so long without a cigarette I was in no mood for socialist nonsense, so replied "No, just give me a cup of rich white people exploiting poor negroes tea, please"

Needless to say.....the cafe went silent and a collective gasp took place from all the wet students....and the Chinese gal quickly went rushing about getting my tea as if in a state of shock.

So...what kind of a World are we living in when a chap cannot order a cup of tea without some sort of left wing socialist nonsense coming into it?!?!

What kind of a world are we living in when a chap is subjected to this sort of thing....and after so long since they last had a cigarette!

(cute history student 'Steve' thought it hilarious and gave me his telephone number....so that is something)
