Every Dog Has Its Day...

The odious Michael Costa, sacked last week (along with his Boss) as Treasurer in the New South Wales Government, has finally finally said something worth listening to! ..(albeit a couple of weeks late to save him ha ha!) Tongue

Before telling you what it is I should point out that Mr Costa has spent seven years as a Minister in the NSW government, with a driver, staff, perks, making busybody policy decision after busybody policy decision, turning a billion dollar budget surplus into a $300 million deficit (!), single handedly destroying the New South Wales train system...and numerous other things which brings to mind the old saying about organising a pissup in a brewery.

Anyway, after cocking up four portfolios in seven years, destroying the state economy and his own Government, Michael Costa has decided that what would be best for Australia is to...ummmmmm....abolish State Governments! Tongue

I agree with him....Australia being the most over-governed country in the World, and the level of government interference in the lives of citizens is just shocking, not to mention the difficulties of undertaking capitalist profitmaking with all the forms to fill out and hoops to jump through.

So yes Costa is quite right..abolish the lot and let the Country be governed from Canberra by a national Parliament; and ironically it is his own performance as a Minister has provided a case study as to why 'the sooner the better'! ha ha!

State Government throughout Australia is expensive, bureaucratic, unnecessary, would not be missed, never solves any problems, creates 1001 new problems for every previous problem they attempt to solve, and Australia will quickly become the richest nation in the World as soon as they have less Government and more freedom.

(As an aside, the funniest thing about Michael Costa was about four years ago as Transport Minister he introduced Bus Lanes in Sydney, and severe fines for car drivers who drive in the bus lanes. On the day his policy came into force the first car caught in the blitz against driving in a Bus Lane belonged to ummmmmm....Transport Minister Michael Costa! ha ha! ..the first person to break his own law) Wink
