The three Bali bombers, whose 2002 attack on two Bali nightclubs resulted in 202 dead, will probably be executed by firing squad some time in the next two weeks, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. Indonesian law is highly prescriptive about how executions takeplace. Under Presidential Decree No 2/1964 there must be 14 members in the firing squad from the police's mobile brigade. Firing will begin when a sword is lowered. Some members of the squad will fire blanks, and others will fire live rounds, aiming at the victim's heart from a distance of between five and 10 metres. A cleric and doctor will be present and, if the initial volley fails to kill a victim immediately, a gun is placed to the side of the head and fired.
