Robert Bidinotto Leaving TNI and TASSubmitted by James Heaps-Nelson on Wed, 2008-10-15 16:31.
Robert Bidinotto has announced on his Blog http://bidinotto.journalspace.com/ that he is leaving TNI and TAS in a professional capacity. He has produced a terrific, hard-hitting, engaging magazine over the last 3 years and I wish him the best in his new endeavors. Jim

On a personal level ...
... Robert Bidinotto was one of the few people to speak out against the lynch-Linz mob on Michael Kelly's site after TAS's inviting me to speak. I think he probably opposed the invitation himself, but was appalled by the mob's behaviour and was honorable enough to say so. If I recall correctly he even left the site over it.

I'm looking forward to what Robert will write in the future. He's mentioned some books.

I have no inside info. At the Summer Seminar they said they were going to emphasize international outreach in India and China and beef up their web presence. At this point I'll just step back and see. As you pointed out, there is not very much apparent fire in their current arsenal.

The magazine just lost its force with his departure, but it's hopefully a chance for him to take his strong, unique voice into a wider audience. He's an Individualist through and through and his tenure on the magazine truly emphasized its title.

I have always liked him
I really enjoy his writing style and Sense of Life. A great, great fellow.
I hope all is well with him and his family and that we see and hear more of him.

They'll be big shoes to fill. He and I have had our clashes, especially over PARC-related matters, but I've always thought him to be TAS' best writer and speaker by a long shot, and he certainly KASSed up the magazine. I too wish him well.
