Airhead America triumphs, as expected. Bring on the USSA.

The battle for liberty must now be rejoined and redoubled. Hopefully the Republicans will do what the Hsiekovians said they would be forced to do in these circumstances: go back to basics, get serious about freedom and repudiate theocrats and altruism-mongers like McCain. I suspect they'll do the opposite, as the Tories have done in Britain and New Zealand, and go even more gooey, PC and me-too. Regardless, for the rest of us, who already understand freedom's secular underpinning in the faculty of reason - the inseparable connection between reason and rights - the imperative is to fight for our values as we've never fought before. I for one am up for it.

The night we waved goodbye to America... our last best hope on Earth

08th November 2008

"The United States, having for the most part a deeply conservative people, had until now just about stood out against many of the mistakes which have ruined so much of the rest of the world.

Suspicious of welfare addiction, feeble justice and high taxes, totally committed to preserving its own national sovereignty, unabashedly Christian in a world part secular and part Muslim, suspicious of the Great Global Warming panic, it was unique.

These strengths had been fading for some time, mainly due to poorly controlled mass immigration and to the march of political correctness. They had also been weakened by the failure of America’s conservative party – the Republicans – to fight on the cultural and moral fronts.

They preferred to posture on the world stage. Scared of confronting Left-wing teachers and sexual revolutionaries at home, they could order soldiers to be brave on their behalf in far-off deserts. And now the US, like Britain before it, has begun the long slow descent into the Third World. How sad. Where now is our last best hope on Earth?"

Saul Alinsky's tactics

mvardoulis's picture

In a slightly modified (i.e. non-initiation, etc) form, are EXACTLY what Libertarians (and yes, Objectivists) should be using since WE ARE NOW THE "OUTSIDERS" (and have been for some time), and as demonstrated on November 4th SAUL'S TACTICS WORK. I HIGHLY reccomend reading "Rules for Radicals" by Mr. Alinsky to understand the enemy and adapt for our own use as lovers of liberty.

Change is coming!

And it is scary!

Silvio Berlusconi is a KASS guy Smiling I remember last time he was Prime Minister he also got into trouble for saying 'Go and read the black book on communism and you'll find that under Mao's China they didn't eat babies but they boiled them to fertilise the fields'.

Friday November 7,2008
By Nick Pisa

Italy’s bungling prime minister caused embarrassment last night when he complimented US President-elect Barack Obama on his “suntan”.

Silvio Berlusconi praised America’s first black president for being “young, handsome and tanned”.

Last night Mr Berlusconi, 72 – no stranger himself to a year-round suntan – was condemned for his remarks.

But he hit back at critics, saying: “What’s the problem? It was a compliment. If these people don’t have a sense of humour why don’t they just...”

Italian opposition MP Dario Franceschini said Mr Berlusconi’s remarks were “loaded with dangerous ambiguity”, adding: “They will be seen as offensive by the whole world.”

Mr Berlusconi has made regular gaffes, including labelling one German MEP a “prisoner of war camp guard” and saying that the West was “superior to Islam”...

And it starts

atlascott's picture

with education and ideas. When Marxists infiltrated our education system in the 70's en mass, what did they think was going to happen?

We have a population that thinks a good standard of living is existentially given and one ideas is as good as another.

Of course they're going to vote for "Change" and "Progress" and "The Dream is Alive" and all kinds of nonsensical contentless slogans.

It is much sunnier than the reality.

Left-Authoritarianism won out over the arguably less-immediately destructive Right-Authoritarianism. And not just in California (which re-banned gay marriage), but just about every initiative put to the vote everywhere in the country this election which expands government control over the economy OR one's personal life won a majority. The majority of voting Americans seem to be scrambling at top speed for more of Nanny State!

And this is why America is completely unrecognizable as America, IMO.

I appreciate you and this place

Helen on the way out?

Marcus's picture

I thought National will not be able to form a coalition?

One crumb of amusement is that in the UK media and Liberal US media have been so negative about the US for so long now that when something political comes up in the next 8 years that they don't like they wont know whether to shit or sneeze anymore for fear of being called racist!

Notice how my intelligence rule holds up.

A right-winger, according to the liberal media, must be either a moron (if young like Sarah Palin or George Bush) or mentally unhinged if older (like John McCain, Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher). Yesterday I heard the media describe Obama as being 'very intelligent' so many times, it reminded me of the last time I heard that, Bill Clinton.

They voted for what they wanted

Mitch's picture

and now everybody's gonna to get it good and hard.

Disappointing but entirely predictable. The next few years are going to be very interesting.

It's not all bad though. At least that bitch Helen is on her way out.

A Bizarre Spectacle

Wayne Simmons's picture

In Toronto there was a huge line at the Bloor Cinema for people to watch the results. My guess is that the vast majority were there to see Obama's victory. There were reports that people were dancing in the streets. I don't give a shit about race. Never have. If Thomas Sowell was running for President, I would tell every American to vote for him.

Now, can anyone seriously think we're making progress?
The Republicans must drop the idea that they need the Christian right to win elections.

Absolutely Scott!

Racism is alive and well, and residing in the hearts of many non-whites, with support of community, political, intellectual and religious leaders, because it is "social justice."

The overt and socially acceptable racism being lauded in the name of Obama the black President is just disgusting. All the blacks voted for him because of his blackness and aren't afraid to say so!

So much for the civil rights movement. Throughout the whole of the campaign, I never thought of Obama as a black man... just a man. Yet black Americans still think of themselves and others in only black or white terms. Tragic.

I hope Condeleeza and Sarah Palin run against each other in the 2012 primaries. That would be a fine spectacle to watch America react to.

They voted Obama to the highest office of mightiest country in the World because “It’s cool”!! Really!!! Now they will learn the difference between reality TV and real life and they will learn it the hard way...

And begins...

I woke up this morning trying to convince myself that it's not so bad yet, that we have until January until that one takes over...I'm trying to think how good it is that the religious right failed...I'm...gosh...even thinking about how to handle this like a gentleman! But when I hear things like I really that paranoid????

And now Jim Cramer, a REPUBLICAN(?), is supporting the plan, saying Obama isnot socialist...I can't tell if he's saying it IS or ISN'T socialism, even as Erin Burnett is saying it is...I see fear in her eyes, but Galt bless her for saying it..she knows what it is..

...I'm glad you got through it all with your rational mind still intact! Bravo!

atlascott's picture

I was a smart, nerdy white kid in a Hispanic and African America ghetto.

I had an opportunity to go to a "magnet" school for a better education, and I took it.

I was taught by a female teacher who let the girls in the class use a video camera and otherwise get favored treatment--constantly. She told the boys "you get enough opportunities in life"--and even took the girls in the class out to lunch and had a sleepover with them.

I was taught Spanish in a 70% native-Spanish-speaking class by a guy whose method was having white students stand up at the front of the classroom, speak to them in Spanish, and have the class laugh at them when they did not immediately know what "abra la libra" meant. This was an INTRODUCTION to Spanish, mind you. I mean, Spanish speaking teacher in cahoots with Spanish speaking students, laughing at the stupid Anglo.

I was booed off the stage at an academic competition in 6th or 7th grade by an auditorium full of black and Latino kids--because of the color of my skin. All other winners were non-white-no boos.

When the kids in the academic Olympics competition returned to class, we discovered that no class was conducted during the two days we were in the competition. The class had a pizza party each day, and could essetially screw off. The kids who were NOT the best and brightest did not study harder, they were rewarded with 2 days off.

When the competitors returned from the competition, we were told that the class was playing a game and now it was our turn. There was a small obstacle course in the classroom that we would have to run, but blindfolded, and lead by a partner--a member of the class who was not in the Academic Olympics. We went through the obstacle course once on our own with no blindfold, and then left the room. We stood out in the hallway as each of us were blindfolded and lead into the room. We heard laughter coming from the closed classroom.

They removed the obstacles and were laughing at the blindfolded academic achievers as they were lead through obstacles which were not present, in front of the entire class, held up to mockery and singled about BECAUSE OF our achievements.

In college, I took a Political Science class with an African American professor with an Ivy league pedigree. THE ENTIRE THESIS OF THE COURSE WAS THAT ONLY WHITES CAN BE RACIST. Both white and black students ate it up. An African student was on the verge of violence when I pointed out how it made no sense whatsoever.

When I spoke with the professor privately, he "aw, shucks"'ed me, told me that I was "opinionated" and that "they would like you in law school." I got the distinct impression that he, too, understood that his theory was a load of utter rubbish.

I had another course where an entire hour long class consisted of an ultra-liberal professor screaming at us about how vile Ronald Reagan was. An entire hour long class dedicated to a Marxist anti-Reagan rant.

In Chicago, I have stood in line at government offices, and see the different way African American clerks treat African Americans, and then the curt, borderline rude, way they treat whites.

I had a bottle of piss thrown at me by a black kid on the CTA train, who shouted a racial epithet at me and jumped off the train.

When I am telling you that schools are no more than socialist propaganda re-education centers, I am speaking from experience. Have a serious discussion--about ANYTHING--with almost any Chicago Public School teacher you can find, and prepare to be horrified at their ideas and their low level of erudition.

Racism is alive and well, and residing in the hearts of many non-whites, with support of community, political, intellectual and religious leaders, because it is "social justice."

Racism is just as ugly and just as wrong whether the belief is held by a white or non-white, but whereas social forces exist to curb white racism, which is largely eliminated as the election of Obama proves, to non-whites it is encouraged, justified, or at best, ignored.

Disgusting hypocrisy...

Marcus's picture

The media are talking excitedly about Obama fufilling the civil rights movement dream of Martin Luther King, whereby race is no longer an issue. They say this as they say in the same breath this is because OBAMA IS BLACK.

Can't they see their own hypocrisy and racism here?

In fact I was musing the other day that it is not in fact 'racism' which is considered politically incorrect, but 'discrimination' against non-white races. 'Racism' is fine as long as it is the right type of racism.

The UK media do not praise Obama for his policies, but because he is BLACK!

Not only that, but they show nearly only black US voters jumping up and down and celebrating Obama and then claim that this proves the 'nation is no longer divided'! I would have thought that it proves the opposite!

And then when they find out that 'white' people still resent 'black' people (i.e. are racist) they are surprised!

Go figure!

All these US airheads standing in line were talking about change and no one ever posed the question, 'change to what from what?' If someone goes from a bad position to a worse position it would be insane to say it's an improvement because it's change!

I see McCain was equally disgusting. After warning constantly of Obama's socialism, he says this:

"Senator Obama has achieved a great thing for him and his country. I applaud him for it.

I urge all Americans who supported me not just to congratulate him but also to offer our president our goodwill and find ways to come together and find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and leave our grandchildren and great grandchildren a stronger county than we inherited."

We are indeed seeing The Ominous Parallels come to pass. Fascism in socialist guise. "A new spirit of sacrifice." Truly, truly disgusting.

One thing intrigued me, though: in his victory speech tonight, even with all that "sacrifice" bullshit, for the first time ever, Obama used the words "individual liberty." Where the hell is that coming from, so soon after his "selfishness is a virtue" accusation against McCain? Has he been reading Rand this past fortnight?

Makes one fantasize. Obama on our side, with his truly awesome gifts, would be unimaginably great.

Sure. And McCain actively

Sure. And McCain actively himself campaigned for the 'bailout', which is so far the worst example of that type of politics in recent times (in America, that is).

Obama may be more open and vocal, but McCain certainly walks the socialist walk himself.

All the more reason to drink more heavily. The Republicans have never, nor will they ever, be principled; and therefore ultimately no better. Obama right now is giving lip service to 'American ideas' and 'Liberty' as if he forgot what he said about positive rights and redistribution of wealth. He's just so overt, and without an ounce of opposition from Republicans or anyone else.

No change

Duncan Bayne's picture

Riiiiight - and if you believe that, I've got this bridge I'd like to sell you.

In fact, the Republicans will pander to the very same Americans that voted in the Democrats, rather than try to convince them they're wrong. They'll adopt positions that are barely distinguishable from those of the Democrats, and hire excellent speech writers to dress up their next candidate as being pro-Liberty, pro-Capitalism, and pro-Individual.

But then, that's what they've been doing for decades, so I don't really see how this changes anything.

John McCain ran a spirited

John McCain ran a spirited campaign and it did achieve a purpose: to prevent a complete political bloodbath. Republican Senate wins in Georgia and Kentucky were important. Well, before I begin my

KingRandor82's picture

Well, before I begin my thoughts, allow me to share some minor good news: Obama in '08 means NO Hillary in '12- and again, I believe she's even worse, so we got lucky there.

Now, first of all- after all the pro big government initiatives across the country won tonight, I never ever want to hear Americans complain about a bad economy ever again. They voted FOR every tax increase initiative, and voted AGAINST every single initiative to decrease government. Basically, they voted to be SOCIALLY "conservative" and FISCALLY "liberal"....that's HUCKABEE dangerous.

And then they wonder why we couldn't get any better choices than McCain and Obama. Simply...America doesn't want any better choices.

Eh, don't matter to me. I'm just gonna keep chugging along as I always do.

It's funny though- I voted for Reagan, and everyone looked at me as though I was crazy. My response was "you guys are fighting over two guys who are exactly alike, and I'M crazy?"

"But the world of today is the world they wanted..."

Jmaurone's picture

It hurts to see what we're going to see, but it's a pain that "only goes down so deep." It would probably hurt me more if I hadn't worked out through this already via A SHOW OF HANDS. With the choice of this country all but made, I'm past the point of debate, discussion, and anger. It's a violent calm; even if the people on the street are already starting to celebrate Obama's victory, waiting to gloat and rub it in to the defenders of America. Let them gloat; they're going to get what they deserve. "Brothers, you asked for it." I've already let them go.

That said, I bet these words will be very relevant, not in the distant future, but frightfully sooner:

"I am speaking to those who desire to live and to recapture the honor of their soul. Now that you know the truth about your world, stop supporting your own destroyers. The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Withdraw your sanction. Do not try to live on your enemies' terms or to win at a game where they're setting the rules. Do not seek the favor of those who enslaved you, do not beg for alms from those who have robbed not join their team to recoup what they've taken by helping them rob your neighbors. Do not struggle for profit, success, or security at the price of a lien on your right to exist. Such a lien is not to be paid off; the more you pay them, the more they will demand; the greater the values you seek or achieve, the more vulnerably helpless you become. Theirs is a system of white blackmail devised to bleed you, not by means of your sins, but by means of your love of existence."
