It is Playoff Time

Lindsay was just making fun of me in chat for the fact that I am listening to NFL Films music to get hyped up for this weekend's playoff games. Well, for the football faithful in America here you go. This stuff is retro, it is nostalgic and it is great. If you didn't grow up with it you won't get it. (the composer is Sam Spence)

Hah!

...I usually like the 'underdog' thing except when the underdog is taking on the Steelers. We'll see, Jason, I've no doubt with the way Arizona has been playing of late they will not make it easy on the Steelers.

Looking forward to a great Super Bowl!

"...by the best team in NFL history THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS, who, I'm sorry to say, Landon and Jason, will in turn beat the Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers franchise has five super bowl rings already, and it's time to start working on filling up the second hand with rings."

The Steelers are the favorites for a number of reasons, including history. But they won't win. I'll predict it here -- AZ upsets the Steelers.

The Ravens have just been beaten...

I would have loved to see the Giants (or ANYONE) beat the Eagles (I despise the Eagles as well), but part of me wanted to see them advance to the Super Bowl to have the Steelers finish them off as would be good and proper.

Linz, rugby is an amazing sport and yes, professional American football is a slower game, but the battle armor is as much a curse as a blessing as Landon alluded. Those doing the hitting are just as heavily armored as the ones being hit. Not a sissy among them.

I'm appalled...

Come up to Lincoln next time the Huskers play...

It isn't the football I'm interested in so much as the drinking!!! During game day, the Husker's stadium becomes the 3rd largest population center in Nebraska. And those who can't get in to the stadium go to the bars...

Besides, College football isn't quite as silly as NFL with regards to the time taken between plays.

On the other hand, there is the mysterious, playoff free, method that the NCAA selects the best team for each season. And Americans tell me that they can't understand cricket!

Besides. There is always cage-fighting. Something the prissy tossers in power in NZ wouldn't allow. They banned Bull-rush for F--k's sake!

Since the Colts are out

I've gotten over losing Edgerrin James (The Colts won the superbowl the year he left so they obviously got over it) I'm pulling for Arizona.

The Samuel/Fitzgerald match-up alone should be amazing. Sad part is that the Eagles are the only other team I'd be happy seeing go forth.

Also FYI Linz, the pads are heavy and make the hits do more damage.

"... whatever game was on when Jason was having an orgasm. Arizona won. But what was to win? They stop playing every thirty seconds. When they do play they're so padded up it takes all the risk out of it. "

Tell this to the people who have been physically ruined for life from playing this game. Club athletes who play in the game they play in the sparsely populated former colonies (rugby) would die regularly if they had to face the incredibly fast, strong NFL athletes without pads. They don't stand a chance regardless of the rules.

When they do play they're so padded up it takes all the risk out of it. And you have to hope that in those rare moments when they are playing there isn't a commercial break. I'm appalled that you've been seduced by this silliness and sissiness, Robert. Wink

Edited to add: just listened to the clips. These aren't associated with any team now, surely? They're not headbanging caterwauling!! Wink

Giants v Eagles...

My fiancee is a huge Giant's fan... Good thing that Nebraska (her other sporting love) did 1,000% better this year in College football or there would have been much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

AZ Cardinals

There are no great teams this year, so I can hold on to the hope that Arizona can pull it off. At least for the next week Smile

American Football is AWESOME!

It kills me that the Giants lost to the Eagles. God, how I despise the Eagles.

The Ravens are looking like the team to beat to my eyes...
