The evil of Pope Benedict

Amongst all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about Islam, the rampant anti-Semitism of the Catholic Church under Benedict seems to have been missed....

A lot of people were concerned when an arch-conservative like Cardinal Ratzinger was named the pope, but I don't think any of us imagined that he would be soon playing footsie with some of Catholicism's most prominent anti-Semites - Dave Neiwert

Neiwert is a prominent liberal in the US - he has written several books. He also says:

I think most people understood that Pope Benedict had in mind rolling back liberal reforms of the past generation or so when he ascended to his seat. But I don't think anyone thought the rollback included the Vatican II reforms that brought the Church into the modern age. Now, it's starting to look like they are -- and that's just the beginning of it. Indeed, the Church under Benedict is looking positively medieval again.

The recently appointed Richard Williamson is not the least bit sorry for having repeated the lies, pseudoscience, pseudo-history, and distortions of fact common in the lowest circles of Holocaust denialism. He's not sorry for being a deceitful scumbag.

Williamson is only sorry because he caused a "media storm" that caused Pope Benedict XVI so many problems.

All those who wail about Islam should take a good hard look at Catholicism. Catholics murdered hundreds of thousands of Jews and Muslims.

They would still be doing so today if they had not been marginalised by the political process.

I don't think many Objectivist's understand this - apart from Peikoff. With the financial 'meltdown' it is a battle between who is the most conservative - Islam or Catholicism.
Thus it should be our goal to keep our eyes on what really matters.

Reed, what exactly is

Reed, what exactly is insightful about that article?
Nothing. That's the point.

After reading the "anti-semitic" article I expected to find other articles, by David Neiwert, that were tenuously constructed crap.

Insight?

Reed, what exactly is insightful about that article? Perhaps you should start a thread explaining why that article is insightful. I'm very interested in learning exactly where you stand on the issue of Rand and the financial crisis. I'll be honest though, Dr. Brook and Mr. John Allison have made some pretty persuasive arguments that you would have to either agree with or argue against.

They have been marginalised

Ruth123's picture

They have been marginalised for the time being Lindsay --- but they are on the rise in the UK and all western countries. Catholicism is set to overtake the C of E  in the UK for the first time since Henry VIII.

Personally I think humanity is heading for another 'dark ages'.  Catholicism, not Islam will prevail. That is my conspiracy theory so I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

And conservatives and conservative Objectivists are enabling that.

Obama must neutralise Islam - which he is trying to do.

Of course we do. But the fact is they have been marginalised, while Obama and the Dem-scum are licking Islamofascist butt.
