The Satanic Verses AffairSubmitted by Marcus on Fri, 2009-04-03 15:28
This BBC documentary aired in February, 20 years after the Fatwa was ordered by Ayatollah Khomeini against Salman Rushdie, the author of the Satanic Verses. It basically replays all the events as they have happened up to the present day talking to those on both sides of the conflict. I think that it highlights two interesting points that: 1) Most Muslims are not moderate at all, but are all potential fanatics and 2) There is no appeasing Muslims or Muslim leaders (take note Iranian ass-licker President Obama!)

A great watch
Thanks for posting this. Nice explanation of this political issue.
The Factor: Salman Rushdie
Rushdie reads a controversial excerpt from...
...the Satanic Verses. Quite good actually.
The great irony is...
...as someone in the documentary mentions (not in these words exactly), is that Salman Rushdie started out as a darling of left-wing intellectual pomowankers writing about how wonderful ethnic minorities were and how corrupt the British police and government are.
However, it was exactly those ethnic minorities that wanted to kill him and made his life hell and the British police and Government that kept him alive.
I think he has learned something about the 'real' world from this whole incident (one would hope so.)
He here is in an interview from this year, where he is denouncing cultural relativism.
