"Oy Gordon, ya pilferin' pillock! I'm off!"Submitted by Marcus on Wed, 2009-04-29 14:00
This is unfortunately not what Micheal Caine said, but he should have. As reported in the Daily Telegraph, Caine says that since Gordon Brown's last budget has raised the top tax rate to 50%, if it goes any higher he is going to leave the country. The classic "Cockney Geezer" who has starred in such classic films as 'Alfie' and 'the Italian Job' goes on to say: "We've got three-and-a-half million layabouts laying about on benefits, and I'm 76, getting up at 6am to go to work to keep them. Let's get everybody back to work so we can save a couple of billion and cut tax, not keep sticking it on...I will not pay the Government more than I get. No way, ever." Well, Caine should realise that 50% is already too much. Caine's 'almost' bold measure does not quite qualify as heroic, but he is one of the few public figures who has spoken out. Good on ya, ya hard workin' geezer!

“First of all, I choose the great roles, and if none of these come, I choose the mediocre ones, and if they don't come, I choose the ones that pay the rent.”
Michael Caine, who's made almost as many bad films as good ones - but he never stopped working. : )
