SOLO-International Press Release: Free the Journalists, Jail Al Gore!

June 11, 2009

It's to be hoped speculation that Al Gore himself will be sent to North Korea to negotiate the release of two of his journalists sentenced to 12 years of hard labour is well-founded, says SOLO Principal Lindsay Perigo.

"Such a move by the Chavez-Obama Administration could be salutary for all concerned," Perigo observes.

"The North Korean regime is not so crazed as not to realise Gore would be a much bigger bargaining chip than the two journalists. It would release them and jail him.

"Not that it would need to," Perigo continues. "The whole country is one big jail. Mr. Gore would thus learn firsthand the type of society he is trying to engender worldwide with his campaign against a mythical man-made Global Warming. A society without a 'carbon footprint'—where people in their millions freeze and starve to death. He could try the local foodless diet for his much-needed weight-loss; it's reputedly very effective. If, however, he couldn't hack it and tried to escape to China, he'd run into a concrete-and-barbed wire wall on the northern border. And there'd be nothing he could do about it. He couldn't found a North Korean equivalent of Current TV. He couldn't protest or dissent in any way, shape or form—the media, like everything else in North Korea, are totally state-controlled, and are wholly in thrall to the Cult of Kim Jong-il.

"Mr. Gore might then have an epiphany whereby he woke up to where America is headed with its burgeoning nationalisation ... and its media in thrall to the Cult of the anti-American President when they don't even have to be.

"Assuming he wasn't rapt by this real-life vision of a Democratic People's Republic of North America—by no means a safe assumption—Mr. Gore might resolve to cease his agitation for global socialism and persuade Chavez-Obama to do the same. He might urge the anti-American President to become pro-American and get a backbone in dealing with the Stalinist goons in charge of the benighted North Korea as they acquire nuclear weapons and the capacity to deliver them long-range. Mr. Obama might then send in the Seals to release Gore and take out the goons while they're about it.

"Well, we're entitled to dream—especially when confronted with the looming nightmare the Chavez-Obama Administration's lily-livered appeasement of bellicose dictators will create," Perigo concludes.
