Iran's strategy

Reading this report, a subtlety has occurred to me.

I have always assumed Iran's goal was to get away with developing a nuke, the purpose of which was to make it the dominant player in the middle east. I have no doubt that's still one of their goals. I don't subscribe to the view that the second Iran gets a working nuke, it will be dropped on Tel Aviv.

Now I'm wondering if the Iranian strategy, in the first instance, is to goad Israel into attacking it's nuclear facilities as an excuse for retaliation and a new conventional war.

Israel has enough nukes to wipe Iran and it's allies off the map. It would "win" any nuclear exchange.

It makes sense that a conventional war suits Iran.
