The Age of hypocrisy

“Being killed in the way of Allah is a dream and pleasant whish for the righteous.  Some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still waiting"" (Qur’an 33:23)."

For the last 7 years Hamas is waging a war against Israel. This war constitutes mainly two actions: suicide bombing and shooting of "Kassam" missiles. Hamas’ leaders know only too well that by such actions they will never achieve any military or political goals. So why they do it? There are at least 3 reasons:
1.The name of the game is martyrdom. Islam endorses and encourages death in the name of Allah. Martyrs have been promised to entry paradise after death.

2.However for Hamas’ leaders this adherence to Islamic teaching bears many worldly benefits. They exchange Jewish and Arab blood for the plethora of petrol dollars which allow them to live comfortable life in this world. Their attacks on Israel have one sole purpose: to provoke Israeli retaliation in order to increase the number of martyrs as much as possible. As leeches they thrive on blood. Unfortunately, Israel is repeatedly granting to them their wish.

3.They understand that West, conditioned by the morality of altruism will always condemn any Israeli attempt of self-defense.

Without any doubt this was the only purpose of Hamas’ and its “humanitarian” branch IHH recent marine adventure.
“Jerusalem (CNN) -- Israel has attempted to deliver humanitarian aid from an international flotilla to Gaza, but Hamas -- which controls the territory -- has refused to accept the cargo, the Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday.”
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WO...

But there is no use. The West is totally oblivious of the murderous nature of Hamas. It delibirately ignores the obvious fact  that Israel  acted in self-defense. YouTube wants to remove the video which proves this fact.

They are simply a bunch of hypocrites.

So who is the “ guiltiest person in the room” , Hamas or Security Council or maybe media?
No, I think it is Israel. Instead to play into the hands of Hamas by providing to them the unlimited  supply of martyrs and worldwide  “ moral “ support, Israel should re-occupy Gaza strip and to eliminate this plague , Hamas, for good. That would be the real action of self-defense. That also will save the hypocrites of the world from the second 9/11. Be assured that they will condemn Israel for that.

So the answer to your question “What should Israel do about the "Palestinians"? " is simple-Israel should reject Western morality of altruism, annex Gaza strip, Judea and Samaria and establish one state based on the principles of minimal government and protection of inalienable rights for all its citizens.

Thanks for an excellent response to my question and for this nice, concise, eloquent answer to the question of how Israel should respond.

But I wouldn't call Israel the “guiltiest person in the room”.”
You obviously recognize the allusion to AS. Israel is "guilty" in the same sense as Dagny Taggart was "guilty". Israelis think they can win the game which rules have been imposed on them by the looters and their altruist egalitarian supporters. This is the source of confusion. On the tactical level the whole operation was a total disaster. Israel could avoid lethal casualties by using the modern techniques of crowd control. Israel also could simply incapacitate the ship instead sending inexperienced marines toward the lynching mob.

Thank you for the question:" What should Israel do about the "Palestinians"? "

As far as I know Israelis themselves don't have any clear idea about this issue. I'll try to explain my own ideas as well as I could.
First of all why should Israel do anything about Palestinians? Israel is a state, and qua state its only legitimate function is to protect rights of all its citizens, Palestinians included. In other words Israel should maintain law and order in all territories under its jurisdiction. That exactly what Israel does in regards to Palestinian Arabs (Muslims and Christians), Druses, Armenians, Chechens, Russians (non-Jews), Thais, and many other nationalities who are living in Israel. They all have equal rights before law and protected by it. Anybody who infringes the rights of others will be punished, regardless his ethnicity or religion.
However the matters became complicated when Israel failed to take full control over Gaza strip and West Bank. BTW, West Bank is a silly name and geographical misnomer-how 10 meters wide Jordan River could have a bank of 50 kilometers? Israelis prefer to call this area by its historical names: Judea and Samaria. West obviously rejects these names, otherwise they would have to recognize the obvious fact that Jews have the right to live in the country which gave them their name. Apparently Israelis, who like to copycat everything American also couldn't accept this fact in full. After 1967 war they developed quite bizarre theory which postulates an exchange of land (material entity) for peace (vague poorly defined concept).
Arabs, who apparently have more sense, flatly refused the deal. They just want the land, period. But Israel insisted, America and Europe pressed and as result we have now the stillborn plan of two-state solution which nobody actually wants. From the pure ethical point of view the division of the country and its people across the ethnic or religious lines cannot be justified. From the geo-political and economical points of view the future Palestinian state is not sustainable. Geographically such a country will constitute two enclaves. Economically it would be totally depended on Israel. Politically it will be terrorist Islamic dictatorship. So why West insists and why Israel accepts? The answer is egalitarianism, tribalism and culture of entitlement. According to altruist ethics every single tribe on Earth entitled to have a state by the "sacred right" of self-determination.
It means that any ethnic group can use the coercive power of the state in order to enforce any tribal laws and customs-like vaginal circumcision for example. The West will accept any such an establishment as long as it created by "democratic process", that is-by vote. This is the end-result and the blind alley of Western civilization based on altruism.
So the answer to your question “What should Israel do about the "Palestinians"? " is simple-Israel should reject Western morality of altruism, annex Gaza strip, Judea and Samaria and establish one state based on the principles of minimal government and protection of inalienable rights for all its citizens.
BTW, Israel is Middle East, Jews and Arabs are traders for the last 4000 years and they understand the power of the market.

Damning video of "humanitarians"

The video at this site is a must see.

Summary of video from the website:

From the security cameras aboard the Mavi Marmara: the passengers of the Gaza flotilla are seen here preparing for confrontation with the IDF soldiers. The rioters put on gas masks and arm themselves with rods, slingshots, broken bottles, metal objects, and water hoses. As the IDF soldiers approach the ship the rioters immediately attack the forces by hurling these objects at them.

Thank you for this. As you know, I agree with you completely. But let me ask you a question that I have not been able to answer myself. What should Israel do about the "Palestinians"?

The Palestinians are Arabs that have been there for how many decades now? 4? 5? Longer? The Palestinians are being used by the Muslim world as a perpetual weapon against Israel. The Leftist political establishment assists them in this regard. Arafat used the supposed plight of the Palestinians to shake down Western nations (via the mechanism of the UN) for billions of dollars. He took a billion dollars of that money himself while he and his wife spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the fancy shops of Paris and Morocco. Who knows how many mansions he bought.

But how would Israel deal with Gaza and the Palestinians in general under an egoistic approach? Can Israel realistically allow large numbers of Muslims within its borders? Should Israel ship the Palestinians to Jordan or Syria after paying them for the value of their homes? Forced population transfer would incur the world's wrath but I wonder if it is not the only thing that could save Israel.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that at the end of WWII the surviving European Jews were originally offered some island near the Grand Banks as their homeland. In retrospect and given the nature of today's Leftist world, I think it would have been wise if they accepted that offer. The Israelis would have been far removed from the insanity of the Middle East and they could have lived in peace.

Mark sums up democracy superbly

KASS!

Good post Leonid. I

Good post Leonid. I 'generally' agree with the gist of it, and the conclusion that Israel's best policy would be to re-take the Gaza Strip and get rid of Hamas for good is compelling. But I wouldn't call Israel the “ guiltiest person in the room”. They know what they have to do and they do it (though yes, I'm squeamish around the paint guns - that's just stupid), but I think due to all the other reasons you mention, Linz's latest post ( http://www.solopassion.com/nod... ), and comments by Doug Bandler, they are utterly confused about how to handle the public relations nightmare of a Western media firmly in their enemies camp.

We are simply witnessing the fall of a once great humanist, classical liberal, Western civilisation, dooming the freedom of the individuals in Israel, and all of us, to the dictates of the mob on the bloodied altar of the 'good of the many'.
