Another Perspective On Marilyn

I know that Rand was rejecting the tall poppy syndrome with her tribute to Marilyn Monroe. But in thinking about the subject now, I wonder if Rand was right in celebrating Monroe. She was the Ke$ha of her day. In fact, she helped usher in the nihilism of the feminist Left.

Her above quote, which is a favorite of today's women, represents EVERYTHING that is wrong with the modern woman; i.e. that they are entitlement princesses that have magic pussy syndrome - meaning that they expect you to put up with their shit while they hang the withdrawal of sex over your head.

Rand also liked Charlie's Angels, the show that ushered in the idiocy of the "females kicking but" genre. A plague that we are still suffering through to this day as women continue to get raped left and right by non-whites (blacks in America and Muslims in Europe). And oh yeah, all those rape victims sure as hell didn't "kick but". And you know why that is? Because in the real world, the world as it really is (to use Kantian language), women can't kick but. Too damn small and not enough muscle mass. Fuck, there's that reality thingy again.

My point: I wonder if Rand had a little too much feminism in her.

But it's "butt"

Oh no, Doug! Airhead America (AA) as well as Communism?!

I didn't know what "Ambiens" was, so I googled it. I got this:

Yes, it's very common and a very dangerous drug because of this. People drive half asleep and cannot remember, engage in promiscuous activity, and alot of other things. You should only take one when you know you are going to bed. Lock your doors and put your ambien and car keys far away from your bedroom so you don't forget you took one and take another and so on...

Oh dear! Eye Worst of all, they didn't mention that under its influence, one is heedless of the but/butt distinction. Philosophical corruption doesn't get much worse than that.

Now, where can I get some?!

Fucking Ambiens

Well, I was on ambiens when I wrote the thing. But I thought that given Monroe's actual life history, that she really was not worthy of a Rand tribute. Plus I was bashing the female "but kicker" phenomenon which I think is retarded. Monroe seems to have been a slut. Ke$ha is a slut so I compared them. Was I wrong?

All I am trying to do is restore balance in the force by adding a little testosterone and removing a little estrogen. Oh and I am trying to reinstate the patriarchy. Do you think anyone at ARI will mind? Innocent

Marilyn vs Grote$query

Isn't this Gei$ha thing the slag I linked to in my Two Lanzas article because she was top of the pops at the time? No way can Marilyn be likened to that thing. Doug, is it your time of month??!!

KASS Quote Marilyn!

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times a little hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, you sure don't deserve me at my best." - Marilyn Monroe

"That's what the World needs: Philosophy from someone who started her carreer by showing her ass, was an alcoholic, had 12 abortions by the time she was 29 because she was too stupid to wear condoms, took drugs and died from an overdose. You're right! I sure as hell don't deserve someone like that in my life. Even at your best it ain't worth it." - Men"

I wonder if Rand was right in celebrating Monroe. She was the Ke$ha of her day. In fact, she helped usher in the nihilism of the feminist Left.

I take it from your comment that you are picking up on the comment from "Men". Putting aside the spelling errors, faulty grammar and equally faulty logic (since when has a woman worn condoms?!) by "Men", just think about her quote and his reply for a moment and then your conclusion.

Ke$ha doesn't admit faults in herself or say she makes mistakes and publish any critical moral thoughts about herself, does she? - doesn't she celebrate her nihilism in every way and report no values as such to breach? And Ke$ha can't sing to save herself.

By contrast, Marilyn has a beautiful sexy voice, is thoughtful about morality and such things regarding herself but at the same time has the self esteem to recognise that, regardless of her "mistakes" she has much more to offer and worth more than her very small self-described "faults". (Who isn't selfish? Some just hide it better than others. Same with the other things she mentions.)

"Men" has interpreted her comment poorly and without thought - it is just another tall poppy execution, in fact. Her so-called "mistakes" "Men" interprets as abortions and addictions - failing for an instant to appreciate that these are the unfortunate but wholly understandable consequences of being the most famous woman in the world; so sexually desirable and "irresistible to men" and who, every one of them, fell hook, line and sinker at a glance; that she did not exploit men but only ever hoped for love from them is what is most extraordinarily good about her! and shows me how innocent her soul was! The sad and sorry consequences that she experienced occur very often for many people who are without a stable family base to fall back on - as in her case - no family, false friends; how much more difficult must life have been for an innocent sex goddess but who only wanted to be loved (like a child, she was, in this way) but who discovers that all the men she lets in exploit her for their own advantage in some way and prove to be just self-seeking users, fame-seekers and very shallow.

Do not compare her to Ke$ha!!!! And don't blame Marilyn Monroe for any contribution to the rush towards Leftist nihilism in modern women! Purrrrllleeease. Smiling

Not a universal teaching - just a bad one from stupid people

they are entitlement princesses that have magic pussy syndrome - meaning that they expect you to put up with their shit while they hang the withdrawal of sex over your head.

In my very large family, we had many conversations beginning around the dining room table and going on til late in the evening about every manner of thing. One of these conversations I recall very well on this particular subject. It was a life lesson from my parents to their children.

They mentioned the aforesaid behaviour as very common (in every sense of the word) and criticised and condemned that way of being in a woman or man with the greatest adamance. They emphasised to us that one of the many beauties and benefits of sex was its usefulness in "making up" should we have any disagreements with our husbands/wives/partners. It was never to be used as a sulky-minded punishment but quite the opposite - a special activity that paved the way, settled the discord, repaired the feelings of separation and united the couple in the most profound way to make it not only possible but absolutely sure that we would be emotionally capable of listening and talking about the problem afterwards and dealing with it calmly.

Again, when I was five years old, I was taught how to fight! At the same time I was taught that this was only to be used in defense and never to be used to initiate. The few brilliant fighting techniques I was taught proved very effective for me! I used them in my second week of school (aged 5) to protect handicapped children from a group of 10 year old bullies, in fact, I used them frequently for the same purpose throughout my childhood and school years - even winning against groups of horrible boys whom I "took on" alone in defense of my little brother, who was very gentle, and others - and I have some very interesting stories to tell that reveal without doubt the cowardly hearts that lie within the bullies' breasts. In every case not one of those bullies repeated his bullying behaviour - at least, not anything that was reported to me anyway! I learned when I was much older that they had passed on the message very quickly to their friends "Don't mess with the Rose!", which then became a family saying!!!!

I am fearless when it comes to any male trying to assert any physical violence towards me as I know I will win without doubt. Thankfully, I have not had to put this to the test.

My point: I wonder if Rand had a little too much feminism in her.

No. I do not think she was a "stupid" feminist - she would not have condoned the practices you mention re sex, and fighting is a useful skill for defending yourself and others if you feel so inclined. I.e. There is such a thing as "natural feminism". This "natural feminism" is a very Scottish thing - it is a right-minded form of what is now called "feminism" and is quite a different thing from stupid-minded modern feminism that more often just reports irritating puerile differences in treatment or expectations between men and women without any wider thought or perspective and screams, "Sexist!" followed by a good sulk! I am a natural and right-minded feminist in the sense that I believe in the equality of men and women and the importance of women to develop themselves and be independent and self-supporting human beings; however I am not a feminist at all in the sense that I would look to my husband (if I had one!) as the ultimate leader and decision-maker of the family, if I were unable to make the decision for myself. For me, that it why it is paramount that I possess the greatest respect for any man before he could ever become my husband in order for him to command and be given that honoured position. He must possess intelligence and virtue (loyalty, trustworthiness, kindness, good judgement, sense of justice, openness, honesty etc.) to a degree that is the same, or greater, than my own plus good fun. The intelligence part is not so difficult to find as it is to find a man of true virtue who is also good fun.

Actually, I should say now that it is my opinion that Linz is a man of virtue; I have only slowly learned this because I was at first deceived that by his angry outbursts, he could not be so. But the truth is that I did not understand them and so I had thought them irrational and cruel. After reading his books, articles, journals etc in our work together and dealing with him more and more, I have no doubts now as to his kindness, his charity to others, his intelligence, his honesty and his passionate and uncompromising integrity to his principles - and that it is only because, like me, he holds these things so dear to his heart that their betrayal sets him into a rage! Anyway, I consider myself very fortunate to have got to know Linz better. He is one of a kind.
