I've recently re-read a biography of Tchaikovsky I first read when it came out, in 1995, by Anthony Holden. I'm now re-opening others by Michael Hoffmann and John Warrack.

I see that Barbara Branden, best known of course for her association with Rand and the 1986 biography, has died. I never met her but corresponded with her a few times over the last 20 years.

Switzerland Votes For Freedom To Earn
November 27, 2013 -- This week in a national referendum, 65 percent of Swiss voters rejected a measure that would have limited CEO salaries to twelve times the pay of junior employees. In the Game of Life, it's genuinely hard to: 1) determine the meaning and purpose of existence; 2) find work which is satisfying, and friends that are high-quality, and lovers who are long-term desirable; 3) become a billionaire; 4) paint like Michelangelo and sing like The Beatles; 5) innovate and discover like Leonardo and Edison; 6) build a warp drive and time machine; 7) achieve immortality.
